At this point, open-source development itself is being DDoS'ed by LLMs and their human users.
At the risk of being a bit gross: this is the software development version of peeing in the pool. If *one* person does it, it's gross but will probably go unnoticed. However, at this point, it's like having 100 people all lined up on the side of the pool peeing into it in unison. I don't really want to swim in that, do you? This petition wants contributing to Free Software to be legally and officially recognized as volunteering in Germany on the same level as youth work or ambulance service:
This would bring fiscal and funding advantages for FLOSS organizations and the volunteers themselves.

A huge snow cloud covered tourists in northern Italy
This happened at the ski resort of Courmayeur at the foot of Mont Blanc.
Although the situation looks quite frightening, none of the spectators were injured
This is not the avalanche itself, but a cloud of snow caused by it with a small percentage of snow mass. It does not pose a danger if, as in this case, you are on the opposite side of the slope from the avalanche.

It should come as no surprise that I post some content on one network (a high level point) when the much more detailed points were here already by myself and others.
That's not "licking one's wounds" that existing concurrently in multiple spaces.
The fediverse lives by donations from billionaires and grants from the EU, whilst relying on hundreds or thousands of unpaid people's labour in running the infrastructure, moderating the network, developing the software.
If y'all are really throwing rocks at other protocols and projects, I suggest you get your house in order first. The more this goes on, the more you'll loose talented people who don't want to deal with this for far too little money.
Oh, and thank the individual contributors more, because they're secretly the lifeblood of projects.

The OSI was so busy trying to define what open source AI means that they totally missed the existential threat that LLMs and agents pose to open source itself.
