무기징역은 죽을 때까지 가둔다는 게 아니라 기한이 없다는 것으로 모범수 생활하면 20년정도 지나면 가석방 대상이 되기 때문에 무기징역 받은 인간들 가석방 기대하면서 모범수 생활 한다며. 정말 가석방 없는 종신형이란 걸 만들어야 한다.. 다른 나라엔 있던데.. 그 연쇄살인범도 자기 죄 안 드러났을 때 가석방 기대하면서 모범수 생활했다잖아. 진범인 거 밝혀져서 가석방이고 뭐고 날아가니까 다 밝힌 거라며..

Hey people, is there a way to not declare a variable here and still specify the argument type on the call site?

what I have:

function foo(arg: Bar) { ... };

const arg : Bar = { ... };
foo(arg);

what I want:
foo({ ... } : Bar), // but that's not the syntax...

(note: that's typically a question LLM's are good at but I chose to value human interaction and not AI slop)

I am becoming more and more frustrated with how Mastodon behaves towards the ecosystem.

After I finish with the current plans I have for GoActivityPub I have to push into making good enough to be used as a daily driver fediverse profile and switch to that.

I'm not entirely sure the inbox model of social consumption is good enough for others, but I think for me it'll have to be enough.

Microsoft says a Microsoft 365 Copilot bug has been causing the AI assistant to summarize confidential emails since late January, bypassing data loss prevention (DLP) policies that organizations rely on to protect sensitive information.

For some reason it hasn’t put out a security advisory - but instead buried it in a service alert which isn’t publicly visible.

How AI is affecting productivity and jobs in Europe

Artificial intelligence promises to reshape economies worldwide, but firm-level evidence on its effects in Europe remains scarce. This column uses survey data to examine how AI adoption affects productivity and employment across more than 12,000 European firms. The authors find that AI adoption increases labour productivity levels by 4% on average in the EU, with no evidence of reduced employment in the short run. The productivity benefits, however, are unevenly distributed. Medium and large firms, as well as firms that have the capacity to integrate AI through investments in intangible assets and human capital, experience substantially stronger productivity gains.

Well, today is the day. I'm finally "sorta happy enough to pull the trigger" on publishing the book I've been working on for a very long time. It's a technical history book: by a techie, for techies (although I think that between all the code samples, there is plenty of meat for "tech-adjacent" and "tech-interested" people). It tells the story of the Lisp programming language, invented by a genius called John McCarthy in 1958 and today still going strong (to the extent that many people see it as the most powerful programming language in existence).

And this is a time for shameless self promotion, even if you don't plan on buying the book, please repost :-). Self-publishing is self-marketing, so there we go.
