@mcc Hindi's got to be pretty good. "नमस्ते" (namaste) clocks in at 18 bytes for 3 gcs; of that the "-ste" alone (स्ते) is 12 bytes for 1gc. "पास्त्रामी" (pastrami - I'm just thinking of random words here) is 30 bytes for still 3 gcs. I'm sure someone who actually knows Hindi could do much better here!

We need more stories like this being shared in the open. You can criticise some parts of the decisions made here, but that's not the point. Someone tried, learned and shares the result. *That's* the point.
If you're writing a website link in a post or profile on Mastodon, it's important to include the https:// at the beginning as this makes the link clickable.
If you write the link without https:// then it just appears as normal text and people won't be able to click it open.
🤓 NERDY BONUS TIP: Mastodon also supports several rare non-web types of link including gemini:// dat:// dweb:// gopher:// ipfs:// and ssb://. The "Gemini" link type is nothing to do with AI or Google.

The "community" aspect on microblog UI is shallow at best. Instance names and domains are signalling community, but you're still screaming into a public town square about anything and everything.
Threadiverse absolutely does it better, but the crossover between it and the wider fediverse is minimal at best (I am posting on NodeBB right now.)
