Mad fantasy-fic idea: what if even death is no escape from the law, and contracts signed in life remain binding after shuffling off this mortal coil?

In this setting, all contract lawyers are necromancers. A zombie is what you get when an undischarged bankrupt dies. And so on.

Business plan for AI: invent Roomba-style vacuum cleaners, but with holographic projector on the top, so when vacuum cleaning is done, it can be used to display AI girlfriends (or perhaps boyfriends or catgirls), in Hatsune Miku anime style.

(But I think this was already plot of perhaps All Tomorrows Parties or something like that by William Gibson ?)

It occurs to me that there are other voices we should be listening to that aren't European or American in our internet spaces.

So Fediverse who else should we be reading when we worry about Internet Freedom?

About the centralisation dangers and censorship on the internet?

Who are we drowning out?

EDIT: :BoostOK:

Like seriously, if you have a suggestion please reply. I'm enthusiastically asking.

("Why do you post like this, Matthew" I hear none of you say, but I respond anyway. Because growing up I never saw people who knew things about computers talk about how everything was broken most of the time and so I assumed that I was doing something wrong, and now I am here to tell you that despite being *extremely* computer my stuff is randomly broken all the time and it takes me far too long to figure it out, so it's not you we just build things that humans are bad at handling)

Absoluter Gamechanger!

Laid off :/

I know:

- Unity C#
- Rust
- Python

I can learn:

- Anything

I am in Massachusetts. Remote work would be great too

I've 8 years of experience as an MIT software engineer specializing in research simulation platform projects. I would prefer: not creating the next big AI thing, not making weapons, never having to think about blockchain anything.

Anyone got anything?

NOTICE TO ALL USERS:

If your openclaw instance emails me from your account for ANY reason, I *will* report you to Gmail for phishing and then block the fuck out of you. You are dead to me. If I knew where you lived I would visit, set your house on fire, then piss on you when you ran out screaming. Your shitty agentic AI is not welcome in my inbox. Fuck right off, and when you get there, keep on fucking off some more.

(I do not need this shit before my morning caffeine.)

Made a new thing. ZeroClock - time tracker with invoicing. Runs off a single SQLite file on your machine. No accounts, no cloud, nothing phoning home. Nobody else sees your data.

Completely free, not "free tier" free. Portable, CC0 public domain, WCAG 2.2 AAA accessible from the ground up. No VC money, no subscription, no catch.

Whether you freelance or just want to know where your hours go, give it a look.

Instead of defending the use of LLMs for polishing up your writing, we could be advocating for unpolished writing. Blog posts with spelling errors and awkwardly repeated words. Emails that sound a bit less warm and professional because you forgot the preamble of "Apologies for the late reply, hope you're well! Thanks for the thing last week".

If there's no budget for a human editor, why should the text meet a "professional" (middle class, formally educated) standard? Dyslexic people can just write how they write and people can deal with it. Autistic people can just say what they mean to say and not waste energy on the double empathy gap.

We can learn to read for a more inclusive world, instead of wasting the planet's diminishing resources masking our differences.
