I have said for a long, long time that a lot of the folks working for these Big Tech companies aren’t smart. I think I began saying that about Facebook soon after they launched Timeline, especially when they presumed all 750 million users (as it then was, apparently) lived in the US Pacific time zone.

Maybe its just anecdotal but it seems that in previous eras attempts at #opensource mobile, #linuxmobile etc were targeting low end devices, whereas now they seem to be targeting the latest "mainstream".
The most extreme low end effort was maybe the #firefoxos ZTE devices, cute little plasticky things.
The difference can be quite material (> 500 versus < 200 in some monetary units).
No idea what best strategy to reach mass adoption but maybe chasing the giant phone selfie crowd is not it? 🤣

I am looking for a lightweight solution to filesharing that isn't a complete NextCloud install, but does allow some granular user access control. A wiki filedump is too simple. So something inbetween, ideally with encryption at rest and some sort of self-registration / delegatable rights management.

Which reminds me: I would like to make a Visual Dictionary of Railway Terms. It would contain drawings of various components of the railways and label them in various languages.
