Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

How the BBC chose to report on the US and Israeli attack on the Shajareh Tayyebeh school in Minab, Iran:

1. It used “dead” instead of “killed,” softening the violence and removing agency.
2. It relied on passive construction, carefully avoiding naming the perpetrators — the United States and Israel.
3. It added “Iran says,” subtly framing the massacre itself as an allegation rather than an established event.

Four months of Ruby Central moving Ruby backward

From the moment RubyGems was first created in 2004, Ruby Central provided governance without claiming ownership, to support the Ruby community. Providing governance meant creating processes to provide stability and predictability. Avoiding ownership meant allowing the community to contribute, to the point where unpaid volunteers created and controlled the entirety of RubyGems.org for many years. Last year, Ruby Central flipped that successful formula on its head. They now claim ownership of both Bundler and RubyGems, but refuse to provide governance. Ruby Central now claims sole control over all code and decisions, despite paying for only a few percent of the work required to create and sustain the projects across 22 years. Instead of providing stable and predictable processes, Ruby Central suddenly hijacked the Bundler and RubyGems codebases away from the existing maintainers, shut out the community, and started issuing the threats to sue.

Well… I have serious doubts about this

  • US decided to attack because Israel was already doing it and the US didn’t want to suffer a “blow” without also blowing things on its own
  • Trump regime is stuck with a “partner” that is as rogue as the Trump regime itself, both are throwing things on the wall to make them stick, for different reasons, but in common they share one thing : survival, political survival.

Trump is running away from Epstein and Bibi is running away from himself and his war regime, they both need war to exist, they don’t even need a goal or an excuse, they just need war.

Reality is Trump is playing catchup with Israel and what have started a few days ago will last for generations to come.
