습작 원고들을 퇴고하다보면 전체적인 맥락만 남겨놓고 다 뜯어고쳐버리는, 개작에 가까운 퇴고를 하게 되는 경우가 왕왕 있는데, 앞뒤가 맞지 않는 비문, 오타, 그리고 도무지 감당 안될 정도로 과도한 말들을 두눈으로 보다보면 이걸 당장 쳐내지 않으면 이걸 글 이전에 사람이 하는 말이라고 하기 어렵겠다 싶은 느낌이 들지 않을수가 없기 때문이다. 그야말로 과거의 나에 향한 문장 대학살이 일어난다.

다른 나라는 어떤지 모르겠는데 한국 언론 일각에서 이란 전쟁을 쇼처럼 다루는 것은 트럼프 일당과 별반 다르지 않은 심사라는 걸 짚어야겠다. 아무리 클릭을 원해도 사람이 한 번에 백 명 이백 명씩 죽어나가는 사건의 헤드라인들을 그렇게 뽑으면 안 된다.
