ziglang.org/devlog/2026/#2026- says “[If] ProcessPrng […] fails it returns NO_MEMORY in a BOOL (documented behavior is to never fail, and always return TRUE).” I didn’t verify that claim. I did verify that Wine implements ProcessPrng in a way that could fail and return FALSE. I guess this is a bug. (I had trouble signing up for its issue tracker so I hope they notice.)

Anyway, getrandom 0.4.2 was released with two of my error checking tweaks:

I tried to support with Maolan, but I failed. The iced doesn't use WGPU on this operating system, and using tiny-skia doesn't show the window in my VM. If anybody patches iced/WGPU on OpenBSD, I'd be grateful if they would let me know so I can try again.

RE: frankwiles.social/@frank/11618

One thing missing here is the nature of Free Software.

Linux or other free OSs are developed all over the world by people of all ages.

If a single state or country wants user identification (they say age verification) in OSs, that rule only applies there.

The code is free and anyone elsewhere can fork it, remove that anti-feature and rebuild the system without it.

Regulations that assume one entity can controls free OSs don’t really fit how global and decentralized free software actually is.

An article about Brian Deer’s investigation into Andrew Wakefield’s claim that the MMR vaccine caused autism. Included were his discoveries that Wakefield had not disclosed that:

* he was paid £435,000 from lawyers suing vaccine manufacturers
* he had patented plans for a rival vaccine (this vaccine never amounted to anything)
* he had recruited of children through litigation networks
* he had misrepresented clinical timelines in patient records

I do wonder how many tens of thousands of people Wakefield has killed.

Hiya! Anyone in the SF Bay Area/Remote need a cool programmer for your team? I've been messing with computers for over 30 years now, I can program anything with bits, and I've got a lot of experience with all sorts of different systems, environments, and languages.
I've done mostly CI/CD/devops/SRE stuff recently, but I also do embedded software, some hardware, primary development, tooling, etc.
