I'm super hyped to announce that Bluesky Socal PBC has given me a grant to work on the Federated Credential Management (or FedCM) standards to make them really work for all decentralized web applications.

This is why I stepped up to be an Invited Expert with the W3C FedID Working Group earlier in the year. The missing part at that time was "how do I fund this work?" so I'm super happy that Bluesky Social PBC really came through with a grant to fund this work.

A really interesting thing that Bluesky Social PBC did here was they could have said "just make this work for AT Protocol" but instead they said "make this work for the entire decentralized web", and the contract explicitly states I should be working with the IndieAuth, Solid and other communities interested in federated and decentralized identity to make this happen.

Under the Trump administration, two of the three major credit bureaus have sharply reduced the share of complaints they resolved in customers’ favor.

In 2024, Experian’s relief rate was 20%. Last year, that figure fell to less than 1%.

This. I try to remember to explicitly name my •experience• for my students, in contrast to any seeming brilliance, as the source of anything I do or say that impresses them.

“Brilliance” says “Are you good enough?” “Experience” says “Keep showing up, and stick with it through all the struggles.”

It is very interesting, as I get older, to realize that what looked like "brilliance" from senior faculty members when I was young was just "hey this person has read *a lot* and is pretty good at remembering and connecting lots of interesting things about what they read" You, too, can cultivate this brilliance if you read *a lot* and practice connecting dots

ずっとWAFFLESを引きずるのもなんか意地悪やなあという感じに見えかねないからこっちだって気は進まないのだけど、全然釈明する様子も見られないものだからこちらも引くに引けずBluesky Social PBCから距離を取り続けるしかなくて正直困っているのよね（ひねくれすぎでは？）。特にGitHubの`bluesky-social` organizationにissueやPRを投げられないのとかは普通に実害が大きい。

初めは普通に撤回するものだと思っていたから、このパターンは想定していなかった
