As someone who came to the US as a refugee with political asylum I can't overstate how cruel this is. I was already terrified and had nightmares every day. As on #stargate, the bottom of the gate is slightly obscured. My gate does not spin, so I had codes to avoid selecting from the bottom 8 glyphs when randomly picking them for a dialling sequence.
My latest design (depicted) allows those lower glyphs being "lit" to be more visible, so I have changed code to exclude lower 6 for normal dial, but for the (random/rare) 7 or 8 chevron dial it allows them to be used.
