Hi . We need to talk about something.

While talking to a colleague about how I recently learned most people have never sat on a crow it came up that she has never been sat on by a cat. Like, not even once during childhood.

Another colleague admitted they also have never been sat on by a cat.

My hypothesis is that most people have at one point in their life sat on by a cat.

🐈🐈‍⬛🐱

Have you ever been sat on by a cat?

Please boost for scientific accuracy.

Didn't plan to, but doing my fair share of this March. Run into problems with shell scripting [1] with `goblin.sh` that I just didn't want to deal with, so I rewrote everyting in python [2] and oh boy do I feel better about this.

So far I rewrote the core functionality and improved it along the way. It's definitely more tui-ish now. I was also able to realise myself a wish and leverage @ploum's 'offpunk' [3]. Images, notes, and websites are now directly opened in the terminal (although the image doesn't show in asciinema).

Will have to improve some of the functional details, but I want to write more documentation next. I started to think a bit more seriously about the whole endeavour. `goblin` is an experiment in distributed cognition. Rather than being a command line utility, I think about it as forming an assemblage, an environment for my cognition to reside in. Let's see what this perspective does to the project.

[1] working with csv files, making it look nice without going mad
[2] new repo under codeberg.org/thgie/goblin
[3] offpunk.net/, could very well imagine to lean on offpunk's tour feature for a better read-later organisation

So why are so many people of my generation (late stage ) oblivious of mobile device courtesy?

I'm sitting in the waiting area of the tire shop. An old guy (like me), sits down pulls out his iPad and starts a television program for all to hear.

His phone rings. He takes the call on speaker phone and raises his voice to be heard over his television program. Annoyed with his own noise, he seeks a quieter location, walking away from his iPad without pausing it.

His wife is doing fine and will be ready for pick up in forty minutes. Their daughter is still mad her husband.

This Afroman trial is giving me life.

Cops raided Afroman's house for no reason. They pointed guns at him and his kids, ransacked his house, and tried to disconnect his home security cameras. They didn't disconnect them all, and so were allegedly caught on camera stealing his money.

He then made a series of music videos using footage from his security camerasz and body cam footage. Now the cops are suing him for making the videos. The ACLU is defending him.

Opposition to Israel has NEVER made me feel like I was in danger as a Jew.

But goddamn I feel more in danger because an apartheid state on the other side of the world is committing genocide and war and saying they’re doing it in my name.

I hate that wearing something that may identify me as Jewish may indicate support for a country I want nothing to do with.

I admit that I tend to zone out anytime I see Nvidia, but based on the toots I've seen this week, it sounds like they rolled out that weird soap opera motion smoothing that everyone hates on TVs but they thought was a good idea for computers. Is that right? Can I go back to ignoring it now? Because that sounds really stupid and on par for Nvidia these days.

Hi Fediverse!👋 We're Volt Europa, a pan-European political party building a federal, green, and progressive Europe. 🇪🇺

We believe in digital sovereignty, transparency, and putting people before platforms. Sound familiar? That's precisely why we're here.

We're not just looking for another channel to broadcast on. We chose this space because it reflects what we stand for: open, decentralised, and community-driven. We want to be part of this, not just present on it.

🧵 1/2

A yellow Mastodon mascot plushie, known as "Voltodon," sits centered against a vibrant purple Volt Europa flag. The plushie is round and soft, with small black vertical oval eyes, white tusks, and a short trunk. It wears a black baseball cap featuring the Volt logo: the word "Volt" in white text, surrounded by a circular crown of twelve stars in various colors (yellow, green, blue, and red).

The background is a deep purple fabric flag with the large, white, sans-serif letters "Volt" partially visible behind the plushie. The lighting is bright and even, highlighting the contrast between the sunny yellow of the Voltodon and the signature purple of the Volt brand. The overall vibe is friendly, cute, and politically engaged, symbolizing the intersection of the Volt Europa movement and the Fediverse community.
