Self-Introduction

  • I'm a mid-40s developer working at a small to medium-sized company.
  • My nickname "Park Juntai" is derived from the middle characters of my real name.
  • I first experienced programming with GW-BASIC during national elementary school.
  • I self-taught C language in middle school, though I never really built anything substantial with it. Around this time, I started using the Sebeolsik keyboard layout, which I continue to use to this day.
  • I majored in Japanese in high school, but I wasn't a particularly good student. Moreover, I've forgotten most of it by now.
  • After military service, I attended a government-funded programming academy for 6 months, which led to my first developer position as a contractor at a Japanese company.
  • My first job was in Seoul, where I worked for a little over 2.5 years, including 1 year in Tokyo, Japan. (That was already 20 years ago.)
  • Afterward, I worked primarily as a Java developer contractor for financial institutions, government agencies, and large corporations.
  • While working in the financial sector, I somehow ended up working mostly with foreign banks. I also have experience working at the domestic N Bank, which was notorious for its intense work environment at the time, though in my experience, it wasn't as difficult as its reputation suggested. (Actually, the I Bank next-generation project was the most challenging in my memory.)
  • Later, I worked at a media company for about 6.5 years, primarily using NodeJS, working on both frontend and backend, managing AWS infrastructure, developing apps, and doing various other tasks as needed. I worked there until last summer and left due to various circumstances, but the high degree of freedom in choosing technology stacks during this period made it the most enjoyable and satisfying time in my developer career.
  • Currently, I work as an in-house developer at a small company in Seoul. I develop, lead projects, manage infrastructure, and handle various tasks as needed. I'm the oldest employee at the company.
  • Currently, I'm developing a service with APIs based on Nest and an admin interface based on Next. For infrastructure, we use a mix of Cloudflare and AWS.
  • I dream of creating an organizational culture where everyone enjoys working, though I haven't been able to properly implement anything yet.
  • I started my professional life with a high school diploma and later graduated from an online university and an evening graduate school.
  • I live in Incheon, have been married for 12 years, and have an elementary school-aged child.
  • I enjoy console games across all platforms, though I don't have much time to play these days, so I often start games but don't finish them.
  • I like the Yakuza/Like a Dragon series, The Legend of Zelda series, Mario, and Pikmin series.
  • About 10 years ago, I was somewhat active in open source contributions, but that's essentially on hold now. Still, my heart is always with the open source community.
  • I don't have a preference between Windows and Mac, but I prefer using Mac as my primary system. At work, I use an M4 Mac mini, and my personal laptop is an M3 MacBook Air.
  • I have a small desire to both positively influence and be influenced by Hackers' Pub.
  • On Hackers' Pub, I mainly want to share stories about life as a developer.
