Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

Gestern hat @hhwerbefreiInitiative Hamburg Werbefrei seine Plakatkampagne zum Volksbegehren in der Jupi Bar im @gaengeviertel präsentiert. Unterstützung gab es dabei von und @werbefrei. Danach gab es einen Sammelworkshop und Kneipe.

Nächste Woche stellen wir die Plakate auf. Wer dabei helfen möchte kann sich gerne melden. Vom 23.04. bis 13.05. findet dann die Unterschriftensammlung statt. Wir wollen 80.000 Unterschriften sammeln und freuen uns auch dabei über Hilfe. 1/2

Taking a stroll through my spam folder, I saw a bunch of legitimate messages from people and companies with their own domains, that are not publishing DMARC and SPF records. Surely everyone (and by everyone I mean Google) is rejecting their mail? How do they not realize this?

Then I noticed that one of them was received *from* gmail, so their mail probably works fine so long as they only mail gmail users. But another was via Yahoo, so that doesn't track.

Formalization of the Filter Extension Principle (FEP) in Coq

The Filter Extension Principle (FEP) asserts that every filter can be extended to an ultrafilter, which plays a crucial role in the quest for non-principal ultrafilters. Non-principal ultrafilters find widespread applications in logic, set theory, topology, model theory, and especially non-standard extensions of algebraic structures. Since non-principal ultrafilters are challenging to construct directly, the Filter Extension Principle, stemming from the Axiom of Choice, holds significant value in obtaining them. This paper presents the formal verification of the Filter Extension Principle, implemented using the Coq proof assistant and grounded in axiomatic set theory. It offers formal descriptions for the concepts related to filter base, filter, ultrafilter and more. All relevant theorems, propositions, and the Filter Extension Principle itself are rigorously and formally verified. This work sets the stage for the formalization of non-standard analysis and a specific real number theory.

This man illustrated something we all need to see. And I'm not even talking about what he did or said.
Its how the news about him is treated.
In my whole life, I have never seen such an obvious propaganda effort from the ruling class to protect evil and its power. I've never even used the term "ruling class" until now, as it sounded too conspiratorial. Its not.
I understand now.

  • 일단 Markdown 렌더링 결과를 캐시를 안 하고 있었습니다.
  • 근데 Markdown 렌더링 그게 뭐 별거라고 그렇게 느리냐 싶은데, 멘션된 사용자의 정보를 얻어오는 과정이 있어서 네트워크 I/O가 발생할 수 있고요. 연합우주니까 Hackers' Pub에서 아직 캐시한 적 없는 원격 사용자를 멘션하면 네트워크 요청이 이뤄질 수 있는 거죠.
  • 문제는, 처음 한 번은 멘션된 사용자 정보가 없어서 받아온다 쳐도, 왜 매번 네트워크 요청이 일어나고 있었냐는 건데… 글 안에 (그… 중간에 Mastodon 위젯 같은 거 임베드하려다 깨진 부분에서) “어쩌다” 멘션된 @kodingwarrior@silicon.moe 때문에 그랬습니다.
  • 사실 @kodingwarrior@silicon.moe 계정은 @kodingwarriorJaeyeol Lee (a.k.a. kodingwarrior) :vim: 계정과 같은 계정인데요. (액터 ID가 동일.) Mastodon에 페디버스 핸들에 쓰일 호스트명과 웹에 쓰일 호스트명을 다르게 설정하는 기능이 있습니다. 다름 아닌 social.silicon.moe 인스턴스가 이를 이용해서 페디버스 핸들에서는 앞에 social.을 뗀 silicon.moe를 쓰도록 설정해두고 있기 때문에 두 핸들은 사실 같은 것입니다.
  • 그런데 Hackers' Pub에서는 기존에 캐시된 계정이 @kodingwarrior@social.silicon.moe로 저장되어 있어서 @kodingwarrior@silicon.moe로 검색하면 캐시 히트가 안 되는 것입니다. 그래서 캐시가 영원히 안 되는 효과가 있던 거죠.

일단 수정은 Markdown 렌더링 결과를 캐시하도록 맨 바깥에서 처리했고요. 다만, 핸들에 쓰이는 호스트명이 웹에 쓰이는 호스트명과 다른 케이스에 캐시가 안 되는 문제는 근본적으로 고쳐두긴 하려고 합니다.

While I'm very grateful for it, I can't say I'm delighted with the results. Yet. 😉

I'm also very aware that access to HRT is in jeopardy for myself, many others and probably unobtainable now for some. This crime is far more alarming than me thinking my breasts are too small. 😠

Formalization of the Axiom of Choice and its Equivalent Theorems

In this paper, we describe the formalization of the axiom of choice and several of its famous equivalent theorems in Morse-Kelley set theory. These theorems include Tukey's lemma, the Hausdorff maximal principle, the maximal principle, Zermelo's postulate, Zorn's lemma and the well-ordering theorem. We prove the above theorems by the axiom of choice in turn, and finally prove the axiom of choice by Zermelo's postulate and the well-ordering theorem, thus completing the cyclic proof of equivalence between them. The proofs are checked formally using the Coq proof assistant in which Morse-Kelley set theory is formalized. The whole process of formal proof demonstrates that the Coq-based machine proving of mathematics theorem is highly reliable and rigorous. The formal work of this paper is enough for most applications, especially in set theory, topology and algebra.
