状況が二転三転しすぎて混乱している。ちゃんと整理しないと。

今朝になってトランプが関税一時凍結を発表したが（中国だけ追加関税）、これは政策というより脅迫だ。今朝のニュースでは「トランプは方針転換を余儀なくされた」などと呑気な報道をしているが、まちがいなく予定通りの行動だろう。結果的に、何もせずに、各国政府の服従姿勢を引き出した。トランプの仕掛けに、おおむね世界は敗北したというのが現状だろう。

一方で、一連のメチャクチャな政策が、ドルの基軸通貨としての信用を毀損したのはまちがいない。問題は、部分的にでも基軸通貨の役割を担いうる通貨が他にあるか、ということだ。元々米ドル・ユーロ・円の三極構造になりかけたのが、一気にドル一極に巻き戻した。今、衰退まっさかりの日本もEUもアメリカに屈服。現状、ドル抜きでは世界経済は成り立たない、ということなのだろう。

その上で、今回の事件は、米ドルへの依存の危険性を決定的に各国政府・企業の心に刻みつけただろう。中長期的なドル離れが起きうるかどうか。とはいえ、ここにもトランプは先手を打ちにくる。アメリカ離れの兆候を見せた企業には制裁が待っているわけなので。

Unlike most others, we have made certain choices at Vivaldi that IMHO are important in this time and age. We believe the choices were important when we made them, but even more so today.

Our servers are in Iceland and they are our servers and not some cloud servers. We use them for all Vivaldi services, including things like Sync, Blogs, Forums and Vivaldi Social.

Electricity in Iceland is green. Most all of the power in use is hydro, with a little bit of geo thermal.

We do make use of CDNs for speed, etc., of course.

having your work only available behind some heinous publisher paywall or 'enhanced reader' is a straightforward statement that you don't care about your work being part of the shared pursuit of human understanding. it is, in fact, your job to make sure that your work available.

저, 저도 90% 이상의 경우 도커 컴포즈 정도가 적당한 추상화 수준이라고 생각해요...

실제로 쿠버네티스 쓰는 팀에서 일해 본 경험도 그렇고, 주변 이야기 들어 봐도 그렇고, 도입하면 도입한 것으로 인해 증가하는 엔지니어링 코스트가 분명히 있다는 점은 누구도 부인하지 않는 것 같은데요. 쿠버네티스를 제대로 쓰는 것 자체도 배워야 할 것도 많고, 엔지니어가 유능해야 하고, 망치도 들여야 하고... 웬만하면 전담할 팀이 필요하지 않나 싶어요. (전담할 '사람' 한 명으로 때우기에는, 그 사람 휴가 가면 일이 마비되니까.)

엔지니어만 100명이 넘는 곳이라면 확실히 도입의 이득이 더 크겠지만, 반대로 혼자 하는 프로젝트라면 도무지 수지타산이 안 나올 것이라고 생각합니다. 따라서 쟁점은 그 손익분기점이 어디냐일 텐데... "대부분의" 서비스는 대성공하기 전까지는 도입 안 해도 되지 않나, 조심스럽게 말씀드려 봅니다. 즉 쿠버네티스가 푸는 문제는 마세라티 문제인 것이죠...

특히 클라우드 남의 컴퓨터 를 쓰지 않고 베어메탈 쓰는 경우는 더더욱...
