Language-railways question

Is there any timetable search that shows all the diacritics or accents or special letters from ALL European languages?

MÁV 🇭🇺 for example will show Acsa-Erdőkürt in Hungary correctly (inc ő), but will not show Číž - kúpele in Slovakia correctly (it shows Ciz Kupele)

ZSSK 🇸🇰 turns Acsa-Erdőkürt into Acsa-ERDOEKUERT but has Číž - kúpele correctly

DB will show umlauts correctly, and some French accents, but just removes anything central European

so destroying 512 epair(4)s is... surprisingly slow, if you do it inside a vnet. there seems to be some sort of bottleneck (presumably around locking/NET_EPOCH) that means the kernel can only destroy 3-4 of them per second.

probably not something you would ever do in reality, but it makes the if_bridge(4) tests fail if you run them in a jail since the cleanup times out waiting for that.

i am already extremely suspicious of the correctness of the net/interface locking. hmm.

It occurs to me that the next big growth opportunity is going to be mitigating the effects of AI

Getting certainty on things that matter. Verifiable information.

Digital chain of custody for evidentiary artefacts of all sorts. From accountancy to video calls; verification of origin, recording of intent, documentation of performance and guaranteeing the intact nature of communications between human parties become IMPORTANT.

I haven't had the energy for writing lately, but I have a blog and I have some posts on there that I'm still pretty proud of, so maybe have a look at them if you're interested :blobcat_pleading:

Being Queer and Otherkin: A post about my personal feelings about being both trans and otherkin/therian and how the two relate to each other. Lots of beings have told me that they found this very relatable.

Birds.: A little something about my interactions with birds and why I love them, and why everyone should start making friends with little dinosaurs.

Or look at my Blog overview page at https://cherrykitten.dev/blog/, there's also some technical stuff on there.

Two different approaches to debugging a software problem:

The Sudoku approach: stare at the limited set of clues you have, and think harder and harder about them until you find a way to deduce something useful.

The Minesweeper approach: don't even try to figure out the solution from only the clues you have right now. Instead, focus on finding a way to acquire another clue, and then using that to get another, and so on. Eventually you've collected so many clues that the answer is obvious.

Sometimes the Sudoku approach is necessary, because you've got all the clues you're ever going to get. But I think my new motto is "Never Sudoku a problem when you can Minesweeper it."

If you’re looking for a Pocket replacement, the good news is that there are tons of open source options available - if you’re willing to self host. And if you’re going that route, why not try a federated bookmarking platform? I know of two.

Might be a little biased as I’ve contributed once or twice, but Postmarks works great. Yes, it was built with Glitch in mind but I run it as a Docker container myself.
