So we reported to my landlord that the lock on the front door of our apartment building was completely fucked. Like this thing was so bent out of shape it looked more like a cubist impression of a door lock rather than a door lock.
It's so badly damaged that from inside the building the door wouldn't even open past the lock bracket, that's how shot this thing was.
So the landlord sends someone out to fix it, and judging by the loudness of banging, it sounds like rather than just replacing this obvious trash, this repair person is trying to hammer it back into shape whilst it's still attached to the door.

Git is a tool I like, a lot. Before git, you could do RCS {& some others} which is a totally different tool set.
In this video Linus Torvalds talks about the way he created Git two+ decades ago.
What immediately Springs into view, is the fact that Linus gave control of the git project to someone else, as soon as he could he did not want to stay with the project for too long.
Git was created because of pure necessity; it was vital for kernel revision control

The German Industry Association's summer reception is over and all I see on social media is: People sharing photos, funny anecdotes, praising Dorothee Bär's speech and that she played a couple of games on site.
Not a single mention of her anti-queer agenda, zero support for my attempts to finally get a (convincing) response to my inquiries regarding the mismatch of the Association's alleged diversity-oriented values and their complete lack of criticism towards Bär. Nothing.
I'm not entirely suprised, but still disappointed. And to everyone who attended the event but decided not to speak up: Queer people in the industry notice your priorities. We notice that you clearly value career opportunities over safe spaces and equal rights for marginalised people.
