— And a murderer has attacked the homes of two Democratic politicians in Minnesota, killing two people and wounding several others.

I recall Trump claiming America under Biden was "going to hell"…

Where is it going now?

@manchicken the point that @molly0xfffMolly White is making here is that the article claims to be about “democrats” but is mostly reporting on the opinions of people who are not even democrats, as well as a few who might *technically* be but have no particular influence in the party.

The democrats have more than their fair share of problems, sure, but the public impression of their ineptitude is at least half just straightforward lies from their enemies

I've found the vintage-modern modem we all deserve, but perhaps never knew existed. This is a modded board which supports 115,200 baud via serial to the host, connecting upstream to modern 802.11 wifi.

Fond memories of my Hayes 14.4K of the same design, running on a Compaq 486DX2 50MHz. With an upgrade to 8MB of RAM it was fantastic on Borland Turbo C++ and Ultima VIII.. no gui, no worries. 🤗 Teenage me never wanted to disconnect.

전자 컨텐츠들의 DRM 해제가 필요하다. 판매 업체가 사업 철수를 한다면 최소한 기존 컨텐츠들의 DRM은 해제 해줘야 한다고 생각

Unsupervised Elicitation of Language Models

To steer pretrained language models for downstream tasks, today's post-training paradigm relies on humans to specify desired behaviors. However, for models with superhuman capabilities, it is difficult or impossible to get high-quality human supervision. To address this challenge, we introduce a new unsupervised algorithm, Internal Coherence Maximization (ICM), to fine-tune pretrained language models on their own generated labels, \emph{without external supervision}. On GSM8k-verification, TruthfulQA, and Alpaca reward modeling tasks, our method matches the performance of training on golden supervision and outperforms training on crowdsourced human supervision. On tasks where LMs' capabilities are strongly superhuman, our method can elicit those capabilities significantly better than training on human labels. Finally, we show that our method can improve the training of frontier LMs: we use our method to train an unsupervised reward model and use reinforcement learning to train a Claude 3.5 Haiku-based assistant. Both the reward model and the assistant outperform their human-supervised counterparts.
