A couple people responded to my earlier post about the shoddy WSJ article (hachyderm.io/@molly0xfff/11468) to say “well it’s true that Democrats aren’t supporting the protests!”

At my best count, 75 elected Democrats (Congresspeople, governors) attended protests today. Another 27 encouraged people to go.

That’s just looking at today’s protests, not Democrats talking about or attending protests more generally. It also doesn’t count the many more state or local officials who showed up, candidates, etc.

I hope someone can answer this question. @snarfed.org@fed.brid.gy maybe?

I find pretty exciting but I'm unsure of something.

If I move an ActivityPub account from one platform/server to a new one, I can't use the old account anymore.

Is it the same with Bounce? If I move my social graph from Bluesky to ActivityPub, does my Bluesky account "shuts down" or can I still use it afterward?

I know, Bounce is not out yet, so maybe I'm getting ahead of myself, but I was wondering.

I never really thought about how processing of a single TCP ACK packet (tcp_clean_rtx_queue -> tcp_rtx_queue_unlink_and_free) might involve a bunch of main memory accesses for traversing the retransmit queue and freeing the SKBs in it and freeing the data pages that those SKBs point to... I guess in the optimal (and normal?) case the SKBs each cover something like 68 KiB, so the rbtree walk wouldn't be that long and most of the work would be freeing order-0 frag pages, which are pointed to by an array in the skb_shared_info, probably making the memory accesses for that somewhat more parallel?

Explosive development of two forest fires in southwest New Mexico.

The weather satellite loop starts in the morning when the entire southwest US is cloud free except for a few clouds over the Sacramento mountains east of White Sands.

The clouds over the Sacramento mountains develop quickly into dry thunderstorms, but don't become widespread.

To the west, around the Gila Wilderness and Silver City, two gray smoke plumes become visible. (And some dry thunderstorms over the Black Range at the east end of the Gila National Forest.)

In the hottest part of the day, late afternoon, fire growth is explosive and smoke plumes rise to over 20,000 feet. (The clouds are white, the smoke plumes late in the day are yellow/brown.)

The smoke plumes are thick enough that the sun is entirely blotted out. You can see the shadow the southern plume projects as the sun gets low before sunset.

not ONE Linux installer (ubuntu,fedora,alpine, popos) support customized layout with luks/lvm on existing partitioned disk. it's the whole disk or nothing.

I spent an unreasonable amount of time circumventing this limitation especially as i didn't want to reinstall and or bootstrap as i'm abroad. I had to do it anyway. Oh and GRUB is a piece of crap (what did they smoke???), how come every distro we didn't move yet full UKI?

I made my life difficult tbh, but i' m up and running.
