I hate saying things which seem blindingly obvious, but when Famous People™ such as Theo on YouTube make these basic mistakes, I wonder. 🧐

So here you go:

`document.querySelector("# my-dumb-button").addEventListener(...)` is completely obsolete in the year 2025.

Never do that again please. You don't need to!

If you're wondering “well, what should I do instead?”, check the comments; we'll talk about what to do instead. Apparently it will BLOW YOUR MIND! 😂

uspol and linux confusion (nsfw)

I've seen this image multiple times on different social media platforms, and the first time, I was very confused. I initially thought IBM and Red Hat had done something really bad because Linux is always on my mind. Only after reading the comments did I realize this was a US politics post and had nothing to do with Linux. LOL.

A woman holds a sign that says "yes, that Red Hat Does Make Your DICK Look Small!!" and a small American flag.

@fjFrédéric Jacobs ha, and a MEMS element that was planned to contain 15000 holes, where each individual hole had two sides of a capacitor around, one connected to a light diode, to which a glass was connected. This would then bundle into the „fiber tree“ that went to the FPGA rack.

You had to use light because you can‘t use electricity when you‘re soothing electrons at this MEMS element. Once the beam went through these holes, you could control every single hole individually whether it would deflect or not.

@fjFrédéric Jacobs from its origins to then arriving at a system with a custom designed vacuum chamber, custom designed wafer stage, custom developed and self produced MEMS chip in a Russian fab (why that was built in Russia is beyond me), custom developer FPGAs to stream the pattern for printing on the chip because back then computing chips were not fast enough. Custom developed electron source with custom developed electron optics all running on of course super intricate custom software.

Okay gang, those who sling HTML, CSS, JS, which _Firefox_ bugs are blocking you? Which features do you think need improving? What new features would you like to see? What work would you prioritise? Big or small, bonus points for linking to a bug (even more for filing bugs then linking them)!

... Hearing has begun. Over 125 witnesses have signed up to testify across all the 41 bills being considered today. The one for which I am slated to testify is slated for later because not many signed up (?).

They are livestreaming and claim they'll post a recording after the meeting is done, so I probably won't try to be exhaustive.
