When Drake (my doggo) passed away in Feb, our friends hosted a party

They gave us a framed pic of him, and pointed to their karaoke, and said I should sing a song for him

I did

2 weeks later I bought a karaoke machine

We hosted a few parties since then, and everyone says they don't want to sing, then they suddenly won't get off the mic 🤣

"Just one more song"

The best part? Guess who blew everyone away singing Queen, U2 and KoL

excited to start using the bridgy fed bridge and be able to follow bluesky people. feels too manual of a process to be a natural way for people to find and follow each other, would be excellent if the cross-federation was more transparent.

i understand (partially) why they've done it with through this double consent method but it seems also the main reason it feels so awkward.

also exciting is Wafrn (tumblr-like server) which is natively dual account type, AP and bluesky simultaneously

i just wanted to do some cozy development on my crap engine

now i spend half an hour debugging ninjatracing and why it would throw exceptions when i wanted it to embed the clang -ftime-trace information.

Welp - modern CMake generates files like CXXModules.json which also get put into .ninja_log.

PR is out but the project hasn’t been touched in some time but maybe someone else can have some use from it. Analyzing build-times with clang+ninja is incredibly nice (you get free perfetto UI!)

국내에서 판매하는 가정용 8포트 유선 공유기가 ipTime뿐이라, openwrt 올리고 싶다는 마음으로 디버그 콘솔까지 열어보고, 결국 납땜해서 시리얼 콘솔 연결해야 되나본데? 하고는, 그냥 돈으로 해결하자(?)라면서 OpenWrt One 과 USB전원 공급으로 충분히 돌아가는 스위치를 사는걸로 끝내버렸는데...

Various thi.ng updates, bug fixes, additions and new version of github.com/thi-ng/zig-thing/ — now fully compatible with current Zig v0.14.1

On a more diary/devlog note: I also updated several of my Zig based work-in-progress art pieces to the latest version (some of them not touched in 2+ years) and it's so good to see how the thi.ng/wasm-api toolchain has been holding up with various breaking Zig changes and also how this setup simplifies creating hybrid Zig/TypeScript projects (e.g. for using DOM/WebGL from Zig). Related, I also want to mention once more the Zig WebAssembly bindings[1] (updated a few weeks ago), which add another layer of flexibility & boilerplate reduction for generative/procedural/algorithmic art projects...

I will be attempting yet another few takes creating a video overview & mini-workshop/tutorial about thi.ng/genart-api, hopefully also touching on these aspects...

The Birthday Problem surprises people constantly.

Some business proposes using "day and month of birthday" to uniquely identify people in a really small group of like 50 people. There are like 365 days in year. So it should be 𝘶𝘯𝘭𝘪𝘬𝘦𝘭𝘺 that they'll collide.

Sounds reasonable, right?

Wrong. With just 23 people, you're 50% likely to have a collision.

Humans are terrible at estimating hash collision probability. Always do the math on your key space before assuming it's "unique enough."
