More software engineering teams should understand YAGNI.

"You Aren't Gonna Need It" - Don't build features until you actually need them.

YAGNI violations show up everywhere:
- Configuration systems for settings that never change
- Abstract base classes with only one implementation
- Database schemas designed for use cases that don't exist yet
- APIs with endpoints that no one calls

Build for today. Refactor for tomorrow.

I had a relatively good day yesterday with my MCAS symptoms, despite have two episodes of unexplained rapid heartrates (one felt like a sugar crash?)

Today, however, I barely slept because my brain wouldn't turn off from thinking about all this accounting stuff I've been doing. So my head feels like it's going to explode from a headache, my face feels swollen (apparently pollen levels were high around 4am, because I started coughing after having the windows open to cool my apartment), and my chest feels sore.

So back to bed for now, and hopefully I'll feel better later.

I have a @bookwyrm feature request: include a Bookshop.org link on every post. I don't think anyone reasonable would object if it was an affiliate link that supported the platform. But please make it easier to buy books being reviewed through independent bookstores.

이런 시도는 여러모로 유익하고 좋다고 본다. 우리도 비슷하게 시도했던 적이 있었던 것 같은 기억이 있는데... 관성 때문에 결국 HWP 로 돌아온다. 국가가 나서서 특정 기업을 너무 오랫동안 먹여 살리는 듯.

Good. Danish Ministry switching from Microsoft Office/365 to LibreOffice. As I said before, don't give taxpayers' money to Microsoft. Save that money. Help support open source. Spend added savings on local community development programs. It's a win-win for both honest taxpayers and local communities. As a 65yo, I have achieved a certain hard-earned wisdom that may have eluded you. I will share:

1) Just get up and go pee, it's not goin' away.

2) Start the fitted sheet at the hardest-to-reach corner.

3) If you get a cold drink, only to discover that you already had one, drink the coldest one first.

4) Work and feel shitty, or don't-work and don't feel shitty. Don't-work and feel shitty is a lousy choice.

5) Being weird is, in fact, a perfectly normal thing to be. *Everyone* does it.

Finally got the web components work nicely with loading objects based on their URL.

Previously I had to pass the whole JSON payload to the component for it to render properly, which wasn’t possible in all cases.

After the improvements I’ve done I can now do something simple like:

Additionally, I added the option to load the payload from a child <script> tag containing the raw object. This needs some more improvements, but it’s better than stuffing the payload in an HTML attribute, as it was done until now.

Probably I can also improve the UX of how we pass the URL of the object using an attribute closer to the standard HTML (using src=) or closer to the ActivityPub spec (using id=), but for now it’s enough.
