Questions:
- What if we added something to HTTP where if you're only fetching a page to read OpenGraph tags, you send a special header saying "I only want the OpenGraph data", and the server then has the option of sending only the <meta> tags and nothing else?
- Could this help with the Mastodon "hug of death" (because the server can generate a simpler version of the page, caches can behave differently etc) where many instances rush to generate preview cards driving the previewed site offline?

A statement on Patreon removing a vital feature that I used to provide free updates to those who purchase my game assets and software. Thank you 🙇♂️

Unfortunately, Patreon has removed the ability to edit products in my shop. Because of this, anyone who purchased one of my products will no longer be able to receive the free updates I promised.
I've reached out to Patreon about this, but they've confirmed they won't be able to assist.
I'll be contacting everyone who purchased through my Patreon shop directly. Each person will receive a key to claim the product on Itch.io, where free updates will continue as intended. In addition, I'll also include a copy of one of my games as a bonus. This is a manual process, and will unfortunately take a while.
I'm disappointed by Patreon's decision to remove such an important feature, and I sincerely apologize to everyone who expected to receive ongoing updates through the Patreon platform.

Black neon tetras committed credit card fraud during a 2023 livestream by "Mutekimaru Channel" on YouTube. The owner was using motion-tracking software to turn the fishes' movements into Nintendo Switch inputs, letting them "play" video games.[8] In 2020, the fish beat Pokemon Sapphire after 3,195 hours, a feat that takes about 30 hours for a typical human.[9][8] On January 14, 2023, Pokémon Violet crashed at 1,144 hours, giving the fish free access to the main menu. They entered inputs that opened Nintendo eShop, added 500 yen ($3.85 USD) to their owner's account, and exposed his credit card details on the livestream.[10][11] Mutekimaru later requested a refund of the 500 yen from Nintendo.[12]

Fediverseの説明、大阪にも広島にも自宅を持つことはできて、どちらにも住むことはできる。しかしそれぞれの地域に条例があって、守らないといけない決まりが違うことがある（広島で広島焼きと呼んではいけないとか）。しかしサーバの置いてある国の法律も別途守る必要があるとか。エスカレーターの立ち位置が違うとか、大阪だけやたら60km/hの標識が付いてるとか、使い勝手が違ったりするけど、基本的に会話は通じるし、遠くの人と話をすることもできる。ただし方言が通じないときがある。みたいなもんでは。
Nearly 40 years ago I took a stats course where we proved, among other things, the Rao-Blackwell theorem. But even though I studied the proof and did the exercises I never really got it. But lying in bed awake last night I finally grokked why it's true. Sadly I have no use for this newly acquired understanding.
