“Canada did not sign the letter, Environment and Climate Change Canada confirmed to CBC News Friday.”

Canada is a problem.

A huge problem.

Our Prime Minister is in the Middle East instead of COP. That's all you need to know.

We're all so screwed right now... the world... all of us.

Our leaders in ‘developed' countries cannot extricate their minds from the Fossil Fuel industry and it's going to kill us all, or at least a very large proportion of us.

Red Cross to cut 2026 budget by 17%, shed 2,900 jobs

The International Committee of the Red Cross (ICRC) says it’s cutting its 2026 budget by 17 percent because of declining donor contributions and will slash 2,900 staff positions.

“As defence budgets surge, states must also put more effort and resources into preventing conflicts, defending the rules of war, and providing humanitarian relief. Failure to do so risks a world of ever more and greater suffering.”

Mirjana Spoljaric

I boosted something about this, but it seems to have vanished. So here is a very young Cory Doctorow (@pluralisticCory Doctorow) explaining with great enthusiasm some of the things that were on the internet in 1995, like Usenet and the Internet Underground Music Archive. I have to say, we've lost a lot of really cool stuff!

WOMEN'S...

It must be nice to be someone's happiness,

When they embrace you, hug you tightly,

Kiss your cheeks, your lips, and your wrists,

Funny, but only your other half...

It must be nice to be someone's sunshine,

When you touch their palms with a ray,

When you give all your love, to the bottom,

Only to the one who understands you with their soul.

I want to grow old gracefully,

Like on a fine autumn day

The sun drowns the maples in crimson,

Leaving a transparent shadow.

I owe nothing to anyone

A maple tree aged by autumn.

Behind the fog, it's very difficult

To understand the changing times.

Silence is the same as God's music.

And in the fog, his features.

That's why it's so calm and stern

Flowers bloom in autumn.

Rewarded for my faith

The nuggets of years lived,

I want to grow old gracefully,

To greet my new dawn.

A woman with grey hair, holding a bouquet of flowers, leans against a shed on a beach.

The move is not just tactical; it carries humanitarian and psychological consequences for a population already living under extreme instability. People who were hoping for quieter days now fear a new wave of displacement. Some have been forced to flee again, seeking safety in what is left of the western part of Gaza City.

The Israeli military’s advance has also disrupted critical access routes and pathways used by international aid agencies.

On a pale cobalt-hued
chilly December night,
In the study's corner
atop a Sèvres porcelain bowl
several fruits of Karin swung faintly.

Ah, sweeter than Yuri(lilies),
Purer than Suzuran(lilies of the valley),
Ah, light as white Habutae(fine silk),
Painful as golden needles,
The fragrance of the ripe fruits of Karin

Closing in on the fruits of Karin are
Harsh winds, bitter chill of night,
Ridiculing light of the electric lamp.
Where have they gone, that April sun,
That July dew?

Yet now, within the fruits of Karin,
Pain and pride mingle,
Refusing to rot without a fight
the strength of their mind to endure
does not make their yellow opal skin sweat.

Ah, the fruits of Karin,
Undestroyed by winter nor wind,
Their hearts, their flesh, their shining sap,
transform all their precious inner essence into fragrance
drifting through eternity.
