This is a beautiful machine. A bartop arcade cabinet with a wood look running Linux Mint.

Looks like it was built in the 70's or 80's.

Bartop Arcade Cabinet From Scrap and E-Waste

This is my bartop MAME cabinet, scratch-built from common materials at very low cost. It's powered by an old Dell Inspiron all-in-one PC running Pegasus Frontend via Linux Mint. Controls are interfaced by an Xbox360 gamepad hack, and audio is handled by Logitech amplified desktop speakers. Joystick and buttons are IL-knockoffs originally sourced from Microcenter. Cabinet system devices are controlled by relay to respect the power state of the PC. The cabinet was designed to be as compact and portable as possible within the size constraints posed by the hardware and monitor. It is constructed of scrap plywood and finished with vinyl laminate, pvc edge trim, and masked/painted acrylic sheet overlays. The control panel is built to allow for easy panel swaps for different control options. This was a really fun project to put together and complete, offering lots of fun little engineering challenges. It's proven to be popular at parties and a lot of fun to play.

Using Unbound

We all know that DNS is the lifeblood of the modern Internet. But, we also all know that resolving DNS queries can take some time and by default queries are sent unencrypted to a outside DNS server - if one does not selfhost DNS of course. In this little post I set up Unbound with DoT. Also, Unbound will cache results which makes queries faster in the future (Since these don’t need to be resolved again)

2019年區議會是最後一届相對民主的投票，投票率71%
2021年「完善選舉」後，立法會地區投票率30.2%，是自1991年有選舉以來最低；
2023年區議會選舉投票率則是近28%

今年任何超過30%的數字都會被視為成功吧

@reiver@reiver ⊼ (Charles) :batman: Oh yes, for toddlers, it's "easily" doable. It's all about curation. (that's also more or less what I did with my kids when they were toddlers, I actually even mostly used DVDs with them, because I quickly noticed that Youtube was full of brainwashing crap)

I was thinking about older kids and teens. How to make a fediverse or a part of the fediverse available to them, when they're able to use internet tools by themselves?

I haven't thought about teenagers yet.

I've been focusing on prepubescents so far — and starting with toddlers.

Mostly because I have first-hand experience as a father of toddlers. One of my children is even a toddler still. And, I have access to other parents of toddlers (to do research with).

...

But, I do think thinking about how the Fediverse could be made to accommodate teenagers in a worthwhile thing to do.
