Sending a ping by creating an ICMP socket normally requires root: you can’t create a raw socket to send ICMP packets without it. The ping command line tool works without root however, how is that possible? It turns out you can create a UDP socket with a protocol flag. Here is a full example

새삼 돌이켜 보면 박근혜 탄핵 시절에는 기어이 가야 할 길을 이 참에 가야만 한다는 마음이었고, 윤석열 탄핵 시절에는 가면 안 되는 저 길로 결코 돌아가게 둘 수 없다는 마음이었던 것 같다. 간절함은 비슷했어도 절박함의 정도가 달랐던 듯.

I think at this point it becomes very obvious that the #Fediverse is the best place to coordinate your meetups, and you have many options to choose from: #Mobilizon, #Gancio and even #Wordpress with the #ActivityPub Event Bridge plugin. Everyone knows Bending Spoon's playbook, enshittification is inevitable.

For anyone who wants to apply next year, my offer remains open – especially for people underrepresented in tech, or who don't feel confident applying for open-source funding.
On Mastodon, is it possible to mute posts that have certain texts only in a CW? There's somebody I like following, but their 60 post long threads are...a lot. Bonus points if you can mute that text only from a specific person.
