@gnome I use Linux as my primary desktop OS since the days of Gnome 2 and tried a lot of different desktop environments.
I love that you make spirited designs decisions and strive for a clear user experience. While I did not like every single change right from the start, most are justified and you seem to follow a coherent vision.
There was a time when I customised a lot of things, but for the person who I am now, everything just feels in the right place with the current Gnome.
So we've reached the point where SOMEBODY steals my office chair and when I move into the kitchen I bring him with me and deposit him on my kitchen chair.
Not because he has mobility issues, but because I feel bad leaving him in the office by himself. Sleeping.
Clearly he saw the entire situation as a massive tragedy and crime against all catness, as evidenced by the half-asleep face in the first photo.

#decemberAdventure day 4: I wrote an ilo implementation in Oberon (for obcn). The code is in the repository and the adventure log is at https://charles.childe.rs/DA2025/
Tomorrow I'll be attempting to do one in Smalltalk.
I've also used a bit of awk to clean up the log formatting (which are extracted from my blocks under my konilo system) for improved readability.
This year we delivered new Digital Wellbeing features for GNOME including Screen Time history and limits, break reminders for movement and eye health, and improved parental controls with Screen Time integration.
This work was coordinated by the GNOME Foundation thanks to a grant from Endless, and implemented by valued community developers

구글 제미나이가 최근 갑자기 에러를 자주 낸다 했더니, 유료 플랜 사용 토큰을 반으로 줄였다는 소문이 있네.

새 동료들과 이야기하다 함수형 언어 이야기가 나왔는데, 밈에 불과한 이야기만 나와서(함수형 언어 사용자들의 컬트스러움 등) 좀 아쉬웠다. 답답하거나 짜증난다기 보단, 빨리 그부분을 스킵하고 진짜 재밌는 이야기로 넘어갔으면 하는 생각이 들었다. 다행히 동료들이니 앞으로 이야기할 기회가 아주 많을 것이다.
불변성, 사이드이펙트 없음, 아름다움(?) 추구 등의 이야기가 나왔는데, 물론 다 함수형 언어와 관계있지만 본질적인건 아니다. 내게 함수형 언어는 코드를 조합하는 방법을 연구하고, 조합이 잘되는 코드를 짜는걸 실천하는 것이다. 이를 통해 많은 것을 공짜로 안전하게 얻는 것이 목표이다. 그래서 '함수형'의 칭호를 부여받지 못한 방법론들은(ex: 상속), 그냥 해보니까 조합성에 한계가 있어서, 설계를 구성하는 근본적인 요소로 포함시키기에 부적절하다고 결론이 내려졌을 뿐이다. 그럼... 그냥 좋은 방법들을 엄선해놓은게 함수형인가? 그럴지도? 다함께 좋은거 합시다.

자세히 보니까 이 과정을 언어모델로 해볼만 한 모양임 프로세스가 어느정도 정형화되어있고 저런 결정 과정에서 이미 많은 내부 프로그램이나 시뮬레이션이 쓰이는데 사람이 이걸 하나씩 다 하고 있으니 사람 자체가 병목이 된것;; 사실 이런걸 보면 앞으로는 주문견적도 문서로 보내면 아마 실제로 사람이 최종 승인만 하게 되는 미래가 바로 와있구나 싶긴함... 이런일을 기술/영업 이런일 한다 하는 사람이 해왔는데 여기도 AI 시대에는 영향을 받는구나 싶고 ㅎㅎ...
오늘도 블랙 회사 다른 부서에서 이런걸 자동화하고 싶고 너도 일해야한다 이래서;; 뭔 플젝인가 싶어서 이야기 들어보니 (너무 막 던지는거 아니냐 싶긴함) 이 블랙회사에서 파는 장비 견적 내주는 과정임 그러니까 이걸 여태 다 사람 혹은 영업팀이 하고 있었음;; 이 회사는 그러니까 기계 자체보단 기계의 부품을 공급하는 일을 주로 하는데 이런 부품만 수십 수백만개 되니까 외부 고갱이 뭐 만들고 싶어요 하면 이런 조합으로 이렇게 하면 됩니다 이런 과정을 다 사람이 하나씩 맞춰서 최종적으로 점검까지 해주고 파는것이었는데
