왜 물고기 축제가 그렇게 많을까요? 구하기 쉽기 때문입니다. 맨손잡기나 낚시 같은 체험 행사로 고통을 가해도 아무 소리도 내지 못하기 때문이지요. 그렇습니다. 우리의 동물 축제는 동물에게 감사하고 상을 내리고 복을 빌어주는 축제가 아니라 동물에게 스트레스를 주면서 상해를 입히고 결국에는 잡아먹는 축제입니다. 동물을 죽음에 이르는 축제인 것이지요. 축제 이름에 동물이 들어 있지만 동물은 주인공이 아니고 학대의 대상인 경우가 대부분이죠.
가장 성공적인 축제라고 알려진 화천 산천어 축제는 어떤가요. 놀랍게도 강원도 화천에는 산천어가 살지 않습니다. 화천에서 바다로 가려면 태백산맥을 넘어야 하기 때문이죠. 그런데도 화천군은 산천어를 주제로 우리나라에서 가장 유명한 지역 축제를 만들었습니다. 산천어 축제에는 산천어가 무려 76만마리나 동원됩니다. 자기가 살던 곳도 아닌 곳에 실려가서 반경 2킬로미터의 빙판에 갇혔다가 낚싯바늘에 걸립니다.

A number of years ago I setup my own search tool for the gopherspace. I've not re-done a full crawl since getting it working, and due to some design issues, it eventually stopped working reliably enough to keep running. Due to RSI issues, I have prioritized other projects in the intervening years, but have slowly made a list of notes and plans for fixing it. Today's adventure is the first part in implementing my plan and getting it back to a useable state.
I've rewritten the crawler. The new one is a lot less buggy than the original, and has a number of improvement including a correctly working filter (supporting robots.txt and a defined list of servers not to index), better discovery of servers from the gopher maps, tracking when servers were last scanned, request rate limiting, and facilities for avoiding recording duplicate entries.
My initial tests have been on my main gopher server (forthworks.com:70) and a number of my private ones. This totals 32k selectors across 3 servers. I'm going to start a broader scan of the public gopherspace soon, so will update once I get through the initial scan of a few servers.

My thoughts on social media bans everywhere is that if you're taking digital connections away from teens, you better make sure they have third spaces for physical connection, and give them options for transport that is not "parents drive us around" otherwise all you're creating is isolation.
And you may not need a social media ban if you start by preserving and creating those third spaces. #SocialMedia

A bit late kicking off #ChemAdvent day 1, but here we are!
This year I'm finding chemical connections between some previous ChemAdvent editions 🧪
First up, earthy pyrazines are the connection between the smells of chocolate and green bean casserole 🍫
진심모드로 구조적이면서 맥락을 잘 명시해서 커뮤니케이션하면 프롬프트가 꽤 잘 먹히는데, 이건 사람과 대화할때도 마찬가지인 것 같다. 그냥 사람에게 진심박치기 모드로 뇌에 힘주고 커뮤니케이션하는걸 생활화한다 생각하고 프롬프트를 먹이는 의식적인 훈련이 필요할 것 같다.
