Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

I joined for three reasons:

1. I've been experimenting with FreeBSD on a desktop, OpenBSD on VPSs; I still do
2. Several (now many) authors in my feed were here.
3. It is the instance not heavy on war(s), a subject that is mundane and personal and far ahead the generic newscast the Internet warriors have.

I learned a little about how Fediverse works and what decentralized communities are good for. Hence, I'll try to align closer to my hobbies and instance-hop.

Actually, I bet if everyone did refuse, and let their account dormant for a couple of weeks, you would suddenly see American Big Tech transforming into the fiercest defender of your privacy rights, using their powerful network of lobbyists to fight these invasive government regulations.

They need you more than you need them.
Force them to work for your rights.
Do not comply.

In a recent blog post, Mastodon calls for “social sovereignty”, as a response to how X can retaliate against government institutions. Mastodon understands social sovereignty here as public institutions taking control of their social media presence, mainly by running their own social networking servers on software like Mastodon. They mention explicitly that the EC already has their own Mastodon server, at ec.social-network.europa.eu, and invite other organisations to follow suit. That the EC already has their social sovereign presence, but only uses it for press releases without any of the Commissioners using the platform, further accentuates the large gap between the rhetoric and behaviour. Still, the infrastructure for alternative ways for the EC to take power already exists. Initiatives like Eurosky further indicate that the tools for the EC to shift power structures away from the platforms they’re trying to regulate are available.

소니 A7V의 저감도 DR이 후지 GFX에 육박하는 수치가 나오자 RAW 파일에 NR 적용이 문제라며 후지 팬덤부터 시작해서 한국에서도 여기저기 시끄러움.

난 RAW에 NR이 적용되어도 상관없다는 입장임. (그래서 캐논을 쓰기도 하고.) RAW 데이터는 (이름과 달리) 센서 설계부터 회로 구성, 신호 처리까지 이미 카메라 메이커가 만들어낸 결과라는 점에서, 굳이 NR 처리를 배제해야 한다고는 생각지 않음. 물론 사용자별 생각의 차이가 있겠지만, 내 의견으로는 기본적인 NR은 해도 괜찮다고 생각함.

중요한 건 그 RAW 데이터가 유저의 표현에 필요한만큼의 현상-보정 폭을 제공하느냐 여부. 그건 실사용에서 알아보는 수 밖에 없음.

A7V의 DR 증가는 ISO 400 이하 저감도에 한정되고 그 이상에서는 기존 모델과 큰 차이가 없고 A7IV에 비하면 떨어졌을 수도 있음. 모든 면에서의 향상은 아니고, 트레이드 오프가 있다는 이야기.
