Hey, fam. If you haven’t fed your sourdough starter in a while because [gestures at everything] reasons… I’m telling you it’s fine. This bish been languishing for months in the back of my fridge.

Take a minute to open the container. Unless you have pink streaks, active mold fuzz on top of the goo, or it smells like the Bog of Eternal Stench instead of just very sour dough… in the words of Granny Weatherwax, she “Aten’t Dead Yet.”

If you need some help perking up your carb-childe, holler and we’ll walk you through it.

If it’s dead-dead, throw the whole thing in the bin. You don’t need that kind of dead weight right now.

But if you’re ready to being home a new Bready Mercury or Breadgitte Bardough, I’ll bet someone near you has some discard looking for a new home.

Ok, the YouTube video of the recent @djangochatDjango Chat Podcast with Natalia Bidart on 6.0 is out.

Feel free to watch 30 seconds and give a thumbs up, if so inclined! Note, this episode is audio only. Most future episodes will also have video.

I think my favourite thing on social media is when my feed fills up with people performative “not caring” about something, and that becomes the reason I know the thing is happening when I’d have otherwise missed it

RE: mastodon.social/@Mastodon/1156

a long analysis and response to @Mastodon's call for digital sovereignty. How open social protocols provide the European Commission with an opportunity for digital sovereignty, but that this opportunity also comes with a loss of power, shifting their position from network regulator to one-among-equals

connectedplaces.online/the-dig

In a recent blog post, Mastodon calls for “social sovereignty”, as a response to how X can retaliate against government institutions. Mastodon understands social sovereignty here as public institutions taking control of their social media presence, mainly by running their own social networking servers on software like Mastodon. They mention explicitly that the EC already has their own Mastodon server, at ec.social-network.europa.eu, and invite other organisations to follow suit. That the EC already has their social sovereign presence, but only uses it for press releases without any of the Commissioners using the platform, further accentuates the large gap between the rhetoric and behaviour. Still, the infrastructure for alternative ways for the EC to take power already exists. Initiatives like Eurosky further indicate that the tools for the EC to shift power structures away from the platforms they’re trying to regulate are available.

Last I heard, AUSD teacher contact negotiations were at an impasse. So I figured I'd see what was happening at the school board meeting...

It started with public comment supporting teachers getting paid more. Heather Little gave a nice big hug speech. And notes that the fixed amount of bond money we voted for, is a smaller chunk every year. The newest board member, Carrie Hahnel, notes that the upcoming governor election means any increased education funding will likely go to pet programs.

I've realized we don't have a lot of time left to ship orders before Christmas, and the sample of the new "Live laugh federate" pin might take a few more days to arrive at my home for product shots, so I've put it up on the shop with the picture the manufacturer took for me. This is the last new product this year.

What I'm listening to today: "Technocratic Manipulators", Voivod

I was gonna post some more acid today but then I was in a bad mood. Have you heard this album? "Dimension Hatröss". It's wild, sounds like heavy metal cliche until you realize it's from 1988 and it was *inventing* some cliches. Good and hard and angry at stuff we're still angry at 17yrs later.

Couldn't decide whether to post "Tribal Convictions" or this track, went with this. Whole album's worth it honest

What I'm listening to today: "Углами (лайв в коридоре)", Рушана

["Corners (Live in the hallway)", Rushana]

I know nothing about this band; YouTube says they're from St. Petersberg and it appears Rushana is a woman's name from down Uzbek way. Music is what I'd recognize as a early-90s alternative-rock tone with modern indie production, liquid feeling, refreshing like a chill shower right after waking up. They are in fact performing live in an apartment-block hallway.
