An update on the state of our instance.
We were very successful tonight in getting the database under control.
It took a gargantuan effort, and I thank everyone in the Discord for all their help. This was a cross-instance effort, and I'm so humbled by that.

As it turns out, we were missing a couple of indexes in the (now 364GB, was 480GB) database, autovacuum wasn't cleaning up a few tables frequently enough, and our concurrency (connections) with the database were too high.
All of this grew to a head last Friday, like if there was too much water for a waterfall.
There are about 600,000 jobs left for the instance to process to catch up with the fediverse, so if you're notifications or posts are two hours behind, that's why. That latency is decreasing with time.
I'm hopeful that come the morning when our traffic comes back, we're still in great shape.

유망한 스타트업인지 알고 들어갔는데 직장 동료 엿맥이고 그걸 또 시켰다는 상사나! 아마 그런일을 당하고 어떻게 내가 반응하는지 궁금했는지도 모르겠고, 전 이런 생각이 많아지고 그런데. 요즘 거쳐간 회사들에서 그래도 일년 남짓은 다녔는데 이런 경우가 더러 있네요. 그런거보면 저한테 문제가 있는것 같기도 하고요. 내일은 연차썼네요. 장고가 필요해서. 님들아 의견 좀 주세요 쿨럭! 사실 지금 이 회사 다니면서 그동안 우여곡절이 많았는데 이상하게 생각되는 점도 있었지만요,올해 IPO준비한다는 스타트업이라 들어갔는데 전 뼈빠지게 일만하고 이용만 당한 것 같고 물론 월급이 아쉬어서 다녔지만 앞으로 남아있어도 이런 생각을 떨칠 수 없을 것 같아 퇴사하려하네요. 남은 연차 다쓰고요. 이런 생각을 하게된 결정적인 이유는 작년12월에 공식연차이외에 병가를 하루 썼는데 이번달 급여에서 하룾일당을 예고도 경고도 없이 까고 입금했더라구요. 이게 결정적이었네요.

I shouldn't be so hard on BlueSky/AtProto, I know it's complicated, but I will give them the benefit of the doubt that they really do want to build a better open social web.
The fediverse isn't a competitor, we can and should aim for compatibility/interoperability for the benefit of the people, who we're doing this all for.
But also, should empower them to self-host and manage their own connections independently.
We're the tea, the fediverse has inspired many, together we'll thrive. 🚀
