What is Hackers' Pub?

Hackers' Pub is a place for software engineers to share their knowledge and experience with each other. It's also an ActivityPub-enabled social network, so you can follow your favorite hackers in the fediverse and get their latest posts in your feed.

Weird realization: when I help people online, I often talk like ELIZA, repeating back the asker's phrases as a question. That simple program was able to mimic empathy and fool people at the time.

Q: How can I find the try/except around my code?
Me: Why do you say there's a try/except around your code?

On stage now, @django — arguing for widespread adoption of ActivityPub client-server (C2S) protocol.

I agree with him.

At the very least, to make extension of ActivityPub through JSON-LD namespaces possible.

But also to decouple Fediverse client development from Fediverse server development.

And more.

🐈Pictures suddenly crooked, or straight out falling off the walls? Cat.

🐈 Someone knocks on the bathroom door while you shower, but you live alone? Cat.

🐈 Odd shadows appearing and disappearing out of nowhere? Cat.

🐈 Random noises at 3:00 am? Cat.

🐈 Curtains moving seemingly on their own? Cat.

🐈 Bizarre movements behind you while you look in the mirror? Cat.

I legit feel sorry for any poltergeist who tries to haunt this place and wants attention.

Two images of my calico cat Carrie standing on top of the fridge, having just knocked down a picture from the side of the wall, in the first image she is looking downwards at it curiously, in the second image she has an indifferent, "oh well" look on her face as she stares blankly in the distance.
