spotify のボイコットが云々という話、ボイコットが失敗だったかどうかとかより、なぜ spotify を再開したいのか書いてほしかったな。結局聴き手が spotify にいるから再開したいってことなんじゃないかとおもうんだけど、それが「ボイコットの失敗」って理由づけされると、ボイコットって失敗しちゃだめなんだっけってなった。失敗していたってボイコット続けてもいいし、一人でも spotify がクソ企業だぞって伝わればいいのかもしれないし。

A wave of manic energy in December had me put together a long deck called "HarfBuzz at 20! " , celebrating 20 years of HarfBuzz. 🎂

I designed the deck to be presented at the later this year. Then reality hit that I cannot present this deck in any sane amount of time.

Inspired by all the great presentations coming out of today, I decided that instead of tossing the deck out, I just put it out here to be read by the curious. I will present a highly condensed version at the hackfest in June.

FOSDEM 2026 - The first day is over and I summarized the day...

Like always, I'm attending only the first day which mean the day begins very early in the morning. This year, was clearly one of the most important topics, but I also had some great talks at the stand, with the guys at Vates () and of course at the and stand. Sadly, they were in the very last corner of the floor hall in building H. Hope they still got enough attention there!

I'm a software developer with 40 years' professional experience, lucky enough to be considering early retirement. I love writing code and don't want to stop. I'm keen to give something back and contribute to one or more open source projects.

The questions are, to what shall I contribute, and how do I get started?

My skills are mainly C++, having spent much of the past decade programmatically dismantling and reassembling Microsoft Office files. I'm quite happy to learn Rust or Go, but don't really like webby front-endy ux stuff.

Any suggestions for a worthy project to which I could contribute? Please boost if you can.

Our free stickers went like hot cakes yesterday at . The new "My friends are not for sale" ones are all gone, they were an experimental last-minute print of a new design (which is coming soon as a t-shirt, by the way!). The less stuff for us to carry back home, the better. I wish people would grab the leaflets too!
