A software license doesn’t make software good.
Open source code written by a bunch of sexist, racist, ableist assholes is no viable alternative.
Free, libre, open source code is good when:
- there are design docs
- there are risk assessments
- there is user research
- accessibility is a requirement from the beginning
- it is private by design
- documentation is a part of every release
All of this is enabled by teams with a code of conduct, and no tolerance for assholes.
Diversity, equity, and inclusion is the key to all of the goals FLOSS projects claim to share.

「日本の民主主義は棚ボタで手に入っただけ」という言い方もあるけど、つまりは民主主義に至るまでの歴史的積み重ねがないんよね。
しかも「日本は日本！ 外国は外国！（ヨソはヨソ、ウチはウチ）」という意識が強すぎるから、フランス革命だのマグナカルタだのを「われわれの歴史」と捉えることが出来ない。
民主主義がクソなんじゃなくて、抵抗権・人権主義・立憲主義の上に成り立った民主主義でなければならない、ということなんですよ。日本の民主主義はその下になにもないので、ポピュリズムに一瞬で敗北するわけですわ。

若い世代の人たちと一緒に読みたい本。
