Good News! 🚨👀

I am delighted to finally announce today what I've been working on in the past few weeks:

Privacy Guides' new Activism section! :awesome:
https://privacyguides.org/activism/

The Activism section offers a new way to empower the digital rights community. It will progressively grow with more tools to support the community in its privacy activism effort, both for individuals and organizations 💛

As Privacy Guides' new Activism & Outreach Lead, I will be working hard on developing this section even further in the coming weeks, adding many more tools to support our community.

I hope this can be a helpful resource for anyone who is ready to fight for privacy rights ✊🔒

The ‘Buy Canadian’ consumer movement is more than just talk — and now the numbers prove it esp in coffee, fruit juices, travel and stocks.

“Canadians took almost 10 million or 25 per cent fewer trips to the US last year.

The biggest drop was in trips across the border by land which fell by 8.4 million or 30 per cent.

Trips by air were down 1.2 million or 12 per cent.”

Me: No, it's just heavy metals, c'mon.
Them: And yet you use lead in your pencils!
Me: Wait, what? No, I use graphite in my pencils, what are you...
Them: And you like leaded gasoline!
Me: No, I really don't.
Them: And car batteries! Those have heavy metals like lead!
Me: I wish they didn't, but sure, you got me. I use lead somewhere. I still don't *eat* my car batteries, though.
Them: *increments "heavy metal user" column in OKRs*

定格1.6Vって書いてあるけど1.9Vくらいから始まるんだねえ。定格3Vのデバイスなら3.8Vから。コンデンサとか耐圧5Vくらいからが多かった気もするし問題ないのかもねえ…

uspol, kansas, transphobia

Kansas invalidates license of a trans person who didn't even change their gender marker assignedmedia.org/breaking-new

So who, and when, flagged her as transgender? And in what way does this even apply to the law passed?

They just want to harass trans people.

1. The Supreme Court just handed down its 5th anti-trans decision in less than a year. It could lead to forced outing of trans youth across the country, with 40 cases pending that it may impact. It also forces CA teachers to misgender some trans students. Subscribe to support our journalism.

My experience of the :

Year 1 (2023):
It feels a little lonely as 99% of my friends stayed on Big Tech platforms.

Year 2 (2024):
I start a blog - - to explain the fediverse to "normies"... and I make a lot of new (techie) friends.

Year 3 (2025):
My techie friends encourage me to start self-hosting with ... and I do! (GoToSocial, PeerTube, NextCloud...) I LOVE it.

Year 4 (2026):
I plan to buy a Heltec to try out off-grid mesh radio communication 💁‍♀️

if posting about leftism actually did anything, we wouldn't be living under fascism right now. because i (and a lot of you) sure did a lot of posting, but it also sure didn't seem to help. so yeah i could be doomposting about how the dems fuckin suck or whatever. but what good does that do?

You can use aliases to decrease the amount of typing you need to do to get
commands you commonly use. Examples of fairly popular aliases include (in
Bourne shell style, as in /bin/sh, bash, ksh, and zsh):

alias lf="ls -FA"
alias ll="ls -lA"
alias su="su -m"

In csh or tcsh, these would be

alias lf ls -FA
alias ll ls -lA
alias su su -m

To remove an alias, you can usually use 'unalias aliasname'. To list all
aliases, you can usually type just 'alias'.

uspol, personal

I'm a dual US-Canadian citizen, and I would *like* to believe it will be okay for me to just keep traveling back and forth between the US and Canada, and for now it is, but things are changing so fast, how long could that last?

It's terrible, there are so many people I care about in the US. There's so much I've left behind.
