I am skeptical of Ageless Linux's argument that the motivation behind these laws is to make it impossible/expensive for FOSS operating systems to comply. I think the real motivation is to get ahead of the discourse about how Big Tech harms children. They want to claim that they're doing their part to protect children. That would be a great smokescreen to distract from efforts for regulations to make them change their tech to make it not harmful to anyone, regardless of age.

I tried reading Mishima again (this time The Sailor Who Fell From Grace With The Sea), but couldn't finish it.
I guess it's just not for me. I always find it hard to separate art from the artist, but even if I didn't hate what Mishima stood for, I'd still have hated this book (or at least, what I've read of it). 🤷

The cryptocurrency industry super PACs dumped $14.2 million into the Illinois primaries. 90% of that – $12.8 million – was wasted, in that it went to opposing Democratic candidates who won their primaries (Stratton in the Senate race, Ford in H-07) or supporting their opponents. The PACs' only victories in the state were where they contributed money towards outcomes that were already highly likely. They opposed Robert Peters (H-02), who had been polling in third place and ultimately received 12% of the vote. They supported Bean (who was leading the polls in H-08) and incumbent Budzinski (H-13). Sadly this early spending in Illinois used up less than 6% of what the super PACs have on hand, so buckle up for a looong eight months.

I wouldn't be too worried about it. Be careful not to swallow a second one, as they might open each other when they come in contact, and no one needs an opened padlock in them.

Every now and then people share languages with very minimal or very uniform syntax (think Lisp, or Haskell, or Forth) and go "look, all the noise is gone". And to each their own, and familiarity goes a long way, but I think I've pinned down my feelings about it, which is "that wasn't noise, that was signal; I was using as scaffolding when reading the code and now I have to wade through every token linearly".
