Activity extends Object, and doesn't require any property in order to indicate that it's an Activity, from what I can tell?

Found a Videodisc player (notably, *not* a Laserdisc - Videodisc was an RCA design that used a stylus to measure the capacitance of a groove in the disc, which means the disc wears out over time) in Goodwill for a mere $12.49 and I have reached the level of maturity where I accepted that I did not need more problems in my life

Further, I opened a PR to add keep-sorted to the nixpkgs CI. keep-sorted is a language-agnostic formatter that sorts lines between two markers in a larger file. It will help us to get some order in the large top-level files like all-packages.nix!

After a couple months of development, one submitted master's thesis and one burnout, I'm pleased to say that I now have a formal proof of correctness of

AFAIK this is the first completed formalized proof that it satisfies the universal property of identity systems, in any proof assistant. I'm pretty proud of myself, ngl.
Lots of people have struggled to understand the behavior of SwiftData's ModelActor. I had the chance to look into it!
(And also get to use it as an excuse to get into isolated parameters and the sending keyword.)

I actually don’t get too many questions about SwiftData or Core Data. And thank goodness, because I’m not particularly familiar with either. That is, until just recently! I had the chance to work with two different projects, both of which were using SwiftData. While Core Data was introduced in 2005, this SwiftData stuff is brand new. In fact, it includes a whole bunch of Concurrency-specific features. It should be smooth sailing right?

Under #Biden US national labs found themselves hamstrung by micromanagement, demands from the administration that resources be diverted away from #science while regulators repeatedly shut down programs much to the chagrin of our International partners.
It's been a breath of fresh air that the new administration has allowed us to actually get back to work. I don't even care if they know what they are doing, at least they are no longer interfering. Science is getting back on track now.
Regardless of everything else that #Trump might be getting into, and maybe it's just because he's just that incompetent, at least the US is getting back on track with its scientific endeavors. Our experiments are getting back up to speed after years of crippling bureaucracy, and we can start making progress again.
There's a lot to complain about with Trump, but I am very glad to see that the expectations for science are living up to what I'd hoped.

For the last couple of days I have been working on this. A prototype for a 3D platformer/ adventure game where players take control of a fella with a humongous hammer.
I am still working on the basic controls for the player character, but I already like how it is shaping. Hopefully next week I will have them all ready to start creating some enemy/environment interactions.
There's a new UI pattern that I'm seeing more and more that has completely broken login and purchase flows on mobile for me.

So this arrived today. Gonna try to get rid of my #Alexa from #Amazon by switching to #HomeAssistant’s voice assistant. My HA setup is a docker container hand made and it’s about 5 years old. Always feels a little fragile so I don’t update it often. The onboarding out of the box didn’t work. So I think I have to upgrade the container.
They also want my iPhone app to have Bluetooth permissions. That’s fine. But it doesn’t have them. I looked in the security settings and I haven’t denied it. It’s not listed under Bluetooth at all. I think that means the app hasn’t requested permissions yet. I don’t know how to make it ask. #homeautomation
