For my library and CLI projects, I've been writing documentation before writing any code. It helps me imagine the final interface early on, which usually leads to better design. Sure, sometimes I miss implementation details and have to revise later, but hey—it's just docs. Docs are easy to change.
This tiny habit has surprisingly big payoffs. When I focus on how things will be used rather than how they'll be built, I end up with interfaces that actually make sense.
Anyone else do this? Curious about your experience with documentation-first approaches.

My Easter treat has been to work on my silly hosted-at-home retro website. It now features actual content, animated GIFs, and photos of pineapples!
There's a few dynamic pages under cgi-bin, although they are not actually CGI scripts—they are generated by a Rust program. The dynamic content includes live energy stats, climate info, and memory & uptime info. I still want to fill out the content some more, but I also need to do other things.

OpenZFS is great and it comes with awesome features. But for newbies or even users who don’t use all the features every day, it can be sometimes a little bit overwhelming.
The FreeBSD foundation has generously created an OpenZFS cheat cheat covering all the basic stuff that is important in daily use.

Once at work, back in 2005 I wanted to run a newer ssh on one of these. I went to boot an OpenBSD CD but realized the external SCSI CDROM drive didn't actually work or boot, but the ethernet worked fine so I ended up netbooting NetBSD (for whatever reason I couldn't netboot OpenBSD).
NetBSD started up fine and ran great on the 40 MHz CPU. 😂👍
