Help us build an awesome event this upcoming May!

Submit to our CFP, help us get our villages, workshop day and talk tracks over 2 days to be awesome!

Maybe a cloudsec village or cloud track?

We're seriously trying to build a village or track.

How about AI security?

An offensive village?

We already got some promising submissions - 2 villages proposed and under evaluation (Car hacking, CTI).

i have to recuse myself officially because it's exactly at the nostalgia point, but i do think there's some kind of inflection point at/just after the nintendo ds where games (at least on nintendo consoles) started feeling like modern games. i think the "feels like modern games" to me means "you can't see the edges of the system through the game". for example, all NES and GB games can be easily clocked as having sprites moving around on a scrolled grid of tiles. you can still see some of that in DS games, but after that it became hard to identify "oh, this is clearly using technology A of the console"

I've never been particularly invested in light mode v.s. dark mode but I got enough complaints from people that my blog was "blinding" that I had Claude Code knock out a dark mode theme for it, and it seems to work pretty well simonwillison.net/2025/Dec/10/

당장 이 바닥에서도 잊을만 하면 다시 회자되는 '위선' 타령만 해도 그렇다(매번 위선이라도 해라 같은 씹기로 소비되곤 하는 그것) = 전통적으로 여겨지는 '선'이 현실의 지형에서 노견한 무력함을 통해 그 부정을 내면화한 결과라고 보는 게 타당하지 않을까? 돌려 말하면, 아무리 선을 메세지로써 접하였다 한들, 무엇이 악인지를 규정하도록 허락하지도, 전통적 가치관에서 명백히 악으로 규정할만한 무언가가 등장해도 응징되지 않는 현실과 마주하는 사람이 내면화하는 도덕률이 무엇이겠는가는 것;

Ugh, two strikes on things for which I've been waiting a long time today!

First, I ordered a replacement stand for a speaker a couple of months ago, the original having been somehow lost in the move between countries. What arrived today was not the stand but an individual foot that is part of that model of stand. There's a long lead time on these parts because they typically have to be sourced from the US, so this is a PITA.

Second, I ordered some light fittings and bulbs to replace some failing and obsolete lighting in the new home over 6 weeks ago. The vendor has been terrible at communicating or responding to me about cancelling the order, which I've attempted multiple time. I wound up issuing a dispute with my payment processor and wouldn't you know, later that day suddenly the order gets shipped! It arrived today with the wrong color light fittings, so it is going to be even more effort to resolve this than if they had just refunded my order like I'd asked for all along.

so maybe i do know who needs to hear this, but if you're convening an event focused on AI guardrails, data or sovereignty, open source, rights to personal data, etc., maybe vet your platforms?

attendees should not have to consent to a third party platform to infer , train their AI with participation content, or use NIL for their adverts.

srsly - crowdcast, whatsapp, discord, telegram are not private channels, and they do harvest data. walk your talk, folks.

ends rant....
