Jahresende ist bei mir auch immer eine Zeit in der ich versuche, möglichst viele, offene TODOs zu erledigen. Vor allem solche, die schon länger auf meiner Liste stehen.
Ich benutze schon seit mehr als 20 Jahren für meine E-Mails #neomutt in Kombination mit #notmuch und habe mir über die Jahre eine für meine Bedürfnisse optimierte Konfiguration gebaut.
Irgendwann hat die notmuch Integration aufgehört zu funktionieren. Ich hatte jedoch keine Zeit das direkt zu fixen und dann blieb es liegen...

I was wondering when browsers started calling the UI "chrome" (it's not a Google thing!)
Amazingly, the Firefox (then Mozilla) commit that introduced the "chrome" tree into the source code dates back to Sep 4, 1998... which is also the same day Google was founded!
Edit: Netscape used the term much earlier though! Not as much in filenames, but in the actual source code it's all over the place.

I’ve used Apple products despite them being opaque because there was a sense of quality. Cook is undoing everything that made Apple different.

anyone wanna talk about how theres seemingly two meanings for "authority" where theres like as in "i know wlot about something" and authority as in "i can overide your consent and disregard your autonomy" (and the first occasionally is used to excuse the latter...)

You're arguing with religion - logic and evidence won't help.
And that applies to both the "AI is junk" camp and the "AI will replace us all" camp. They're human, and most people crave simple answers they don't have to think about.
You are using the AI as "spicy search engine" here - letting it poke thru the corpus and echo back things that might fit - then applying your own research and analysis on top. As you should. But for the "never AI" camp - they stopped listening at "I used an AI to..." - and they won't listen now.
The reality is AI is a useful tool with some very spicy failure modes. In the hands of an intelligent, experienced operator, it makes a good assistant. You can't trust it - but you aren't, you're verifying the assertions it makes, and adding your own research.
Thing is, that's a level of subtlety that's beyond a lot of folks.

it even models blackbody radiation correctly! it's a texture overlay. sufficiently hot metal _looks_ the temperature it is, to me. incredible attention to detail
