If I wanted to be on a "better" Twitter after the Musk takeover, I would open a BlueSky account. It delivers the same centralised, algorithm driven experience that divides in overhyped influencers and mere click fodder users, just the way all centralised "social" networks are designed to be.

And that's why I am NOT on BlueSky but here on the Fediverse. The Fediverse isn't a better X, Facebook, Instagram. It's the Fediverse. People to people. Embrace the principle and you will be happy here!

I realized that I dislike the OAuth Client ID Metadata document that's supposed to supersede the Dynamic OAuth Client Registration mechanism:

datatracker.ietf.org/doc/draft

The first complain is that it seems to address only online clients - ie, to be able to determine an attempt at OAuth authorization has a valid client, its ID needs to be a document that's addressable on the web and returns valid metadata.

So offline clients are left to invent some static web metadata storage for themselves, which frankly is not feasible.

  • hugo 로 만든 블로그에서,
  • 동일 페이지 안에서, 주석이나 챕터같은 링크들을 오갈 때,
  • 웹브라우저의 이전 내비게이션을 하면 이전 스크롤 위치로 안돌아가는 문제가 있었는데
  • 사이트의 헤더와 푸터 때문에 스크롤 위치를 브라우저가 제대로 인식을 못하기 때문이었다는 걸 클로드 덕에 알게 되었고 (분명 맨 처음엔 영문법 물어보는 걸로 시작했었는데 어쩌다가...)
  • 이걸 브라우저의 History API 에 저장해놨다 사용하는 자바스크립트를 사용해보길 권장하길래
  • 이런 데 자바스크립트를 쓰는 건 과잉 아니겠느냐고 따졌더니
  • GitHub, Notion, Discord 같은 대형사이트에서도 그렇게 해요! 라고 반박하며 설득하길래 (리터럴리 인용: "이건 "과한 JavaScript"가 아니라 "필요한 JavaScript"입니다.")
  • 설득에 넘어가서 적용했는데
  • 뭔가 진 기분이 들면서도 재미있었어요.
  • 언리얼 엔진으로 작업할 때도 이렇게 애가 능숙하면 얼마나 좋을까-_-
  • 하지만 이렇게 느끼는 건 제가 웹에 능숙하지 못해서이고, 웹도 복잡한 케이스로 가면 "이 정도 수준이면 심각한 업무에는 걱정도 되고 효율도 별로니까 안쓸래 투덜투덜" 할지도 모르겠다는 생각이 들었어요.

I made something new: an eslint plugin to validate your npm ecosystem lockfiles! It supports npm, pnpm, yarn, bun, and vlt, and it's already helped find a supply chain security attack vector inside a fortune 500 tech company. npmjs.com/package/eslint-plugi

Basically my career has been fifteen years of hope and promise—some fulfilled, some not—followed by a decade where the industry dropped all pretence and switched to just overtly looting, manipulating, and gouging.
