In a "surprise twist" that everyone with a working brain expected, it turns out shuttling variables through globals or statics is far, far more expensive than using the stack and/or registers with normal arguments and an implicit backing object. In a further upset, it turns out that Lambdas embody that pretty strongly, and the 2nd best thing is a strongly typed closure plus a thin Wide Function Pointer type.

Crazy how that works.

Hello world! It's time!

I'm Fabio, a software developer originally from based in Toronto. I work mostly with and but I'm always trying new languages and stacks because why not?

I'm very much an AI skeptic – borderline hater when it comes to AI "art" – but I keep an open mind and I'm very familiar with the available tools (hence the skepticism/hate).

I also make music sometimes - mostly electronic using , , and other bits and pieces, including live drums!

I'm openly , and

It's been a big year at Signal. Thanks to you, more & more people are speaking privately and freely. Thanks to you, we hit the top of app stores in multiple countries & served as critical global comms infrastructure. It's an honor to build Signal for you, with your support. 🩵

I did something this year that I would like to recommend to everyone for the new year. Call it a Fedi Resolution if you like.

Find someone whose work you like and become their champion. Not in a creepy way, but make a point of boosting them every time they post (or post about) their work. Recommend it to people you think would like it.

The Fediverse works if it works for the people who use it. If you see someone who does something you like, lend your voice to help make it work for them.

Thanks for asking! Tell us why you posted the image with some context. Is it the facial expression of the person in the photo or something they're doing? Is there something compelling about art or photography? If it's a data visualization, what's the take home message? Imagine you're explaining it to someone on the phone.@micr0Micr0byte
