notJoon @joonnot@hackers.pub

YYYY-MM-DD
==========

YYYY-MM-DD
==========

2026-01-21
==========

$ tag todo
TODO
  . 세부 항목 A
  . 세부 항목 B

$ tag done

$ tag note foo      # `#foo`
$ tag note idea     # `#idea`

TAG_FILE ~/todo.txt TODO
EDITOR vim

“I am not suicidal”

After being detained for four times just for standing with her people against occupation, Palestinian-British Dr. Rahmeh Aladwan says that UK authorities are increasingly acting in line with Israeli security interests, portraying Palestinian solidarity and dissent as a national security issue.

According to Aladwan, this framing effectively criminalizes activism and reflects a “captured state,” where Britain functions as an extension of Israel’s security apparatus.

Aladwan also recounts more than a year of rape threats, death threats, and doxxing, including the circulation of her private information and locations to millions online.

She says she contacted police only after these threats intensified, but instead of protection, she faced repeated harassment and arrest.

"If the ICE vehicles pull over, people flood the street. Crowds materialize seemingly out of nowhere. The honking and whistling amps up, becoming an unignorable wail, and more people stream out of their houses and businesses. When agents leave their cars they’re met with jeers, mostly variations on “Fuck you.” Usually someone starts throwing snowballs. Agents pull out pepper spray guns, threatening protesters who get too close. If there’s enough of a crowd, they use tear gas. Meanwhile they go about their barbaric business: they’ve pulled someone out of their car or home and are shoving them into a vehicle, handcuffed. Over the noise, an observer tries to ask the person being detained for their name and who they want contacted. Sometimes a detainee’s phone, keys, or a bag make it into an observer’s hands. Everyone is filming. The press is taking photos.

"Soon the agents are back in their vehicles. They pull risky maneuvers to move through the crowd and speed off. No more than six or seven minutes have elapsed, and another neighbor has been kidnapped. Observers are left to deal with the wreckage: tow an abandoned car, contact family, sometimes collect children. There are lawyers on call, local tow companies offering free services, mutual aid groups to support families after an abduction. Some observers stay behind to do this kind of coordination, and some get back in their cars or on their bikes and speed off again. If enough people get there fast enough, ICE might back off next time. At a minimum, their cruelty can’t go unchallenged."

Venezuela and Greenland are just the beginning. If Donald Trump consolidates power over the US, eventually Americans will be embroiled in a catastrophic war like Putin's invasion of Ukraine, which has cost hundreds of thousands of casualties.

Fascism depends on ceaselessly mobilizing against enemies. The outcome of the fight against ICE bounty hunters in the streets today will determine whether we go to war tomorrow.

The lives of thousands or even millions of people—including the children of deluded Trump supporters—hang in the balance.

An autocrat who has nothing to fear from those he rules will not hesitate to send them to die for his glory.

Don't let that be you!

Windows file I/O is so slow, you know it's Windoze when a tarball takes 10 minutes to unpack... :woozy_baa: Some say NTFS is not that slow, it's actually the Windows Defender. But no difference after I added a virus scan exclusion - perhaps I didn't do it correctly.

Russia is preparing to test a new generation of solid-fuel intercontinental ballistic missiles (ICBMs) in 2026 as part of a program to replace its aging Topol-M systems, Izvestia reported on January 12, citing defense sources.

The upcoming trials are expected to include both silo-based and mobile-launch variants, with the missiles reportedly designed to carry advanced guided hypersonic warheads.

Dr. Gladys West,
the pioneering mathematician whose work laid the foundation for modern GPS technology,
has died. She passed away Saturday, surrounded by her loving family. She was 95.

Born into poverty on a Virginia farm during the Jim Crow era, West grew up in a segregated South where opportunity was scarce.

Through determination and extraordinary academic talent,
she graduated first in her high school class and earned a scholarship to Virginia State College (now Virginia State University).

She received her bachelor’s degree in mathematics in 1952 and went on to earn a master’s degree in 1955.

In 1956, West began working as a mathematician at the Naval Surface Warfare Center in Dahlgren, Virginia.

She was only the second African American woman hired at the base and one of just four African American employees at the time.

What followed was a career that would quietly change the world.

Over many years, Jane Plitt, founder and board chair of the Alexandria-based "National Center for Women’s Innovations" (NCWI), made it her mission to put Gladys West on the map
—quite literally.

West’s story became the centerpiece of NCWI’s inaugural work,
culminating in a lavish gala celebrating her 93rd birthday on October 27, 2023.

Emceed by Deborah Roberts, the evening showcased West’s extraordinary contributions,
with West herself declaring,
“This is the best day of my life.”

I am not resting easy yet.

A bunch of people who are basically straight-up Nazis just got humiliated. They’re hurting, they’re angry, and they’re in my city.

And they’re pants-on-head dumbshits. (One of their posters bemoaned the “erogion [sic] of our rights.”) That’s not a comfort: sometimes that’s the most dangerous kind of right-winger. Their utter amateurishness means they have no sense of constraints and no sense of consequences. I don’t know what they’ll try to do next.

We remain wary and •highly• watchful. But I’m going to take the win on this round.
