으으음... nix 쓰는 거 점점 부담스러워져서 좀 타개책이 필요하다.

• nix는 패키지 단위가 아니라 nixpkgs 단위로 버전을 관리하다보니 특정 패키지만 마이너 버전 업하는게 불편하다
  • 나는 A 패키지만 버전업 하고 싶은데용? → 불편하고 힘들게 해야함
• 각 레포마다 다른 버전의 nixpkgs를 쓰고 있을 수도 있음
  • 이게 의존성 관리에는 문제가 없는데, 내 맥뿍 용량 관리(...)랑 빌드 시간 관리(...)에 영향을 크게 줌
  • 예를 들어 시스템에 이미 A 패키지가 깔려있는데, 어떤 레포에 진입하니 자동으로 A 패키지를 다시 빌드하네? 왜??? 하고 보면 시스템의 nixpkgs와 레포의 nixpkgs 버전이 달라서 그렇다거나
• darwin-rebuild, nixos-rebuild로만 리빌드하다보니 작은 수정에도 시간이 오래 걸린다
• home-manager가 돌아가다가 중간에 스크립트가 삐끗하면 그대로 조용히 실패함. 실패라고 알려주는 것도 아니고, 롤백도 아니고, 경고도 아니고, 그거 빼고 실행해주는 것도 아니고, 멈췄다고 알려주는 것도 아니고 그냥 쓱 조용히 멈추고 뒷부분 실행을 안 한다...
  • 가끔 Emcas 설정 로드 안 되어있길래 열심히 뒤적거려보면 이런 문제가 많음
• 언어가 strict하지 않고 lazy typing이라 그런가 LLM이 종종 해멜 때가 많음

年假陪著二老，除了簡單的打掃整理，就是跑步、讀書、看劇，清幽的上半場。

邊跑邊聽張景森的訪談，從都市計畫的「偽科學」談起，喜歡他提到 #高密度開發的城市（Compact city），如香港、新加坡等，因為人為的基礎設施集中，反而效率高，不像歐美常見的 garden city，對郊區野外是進逼而入侵的，高密度城市反而能把市郊的荒野保存得更好。

高密度城市往往也意味著政府的高度投資，因此 #城市規劃更該著眼於公共性，否則地價越來越高，不利於年輕人的居住正義。

正好最近日本也在展開「資本 vs 公共性」的討論—2024年獲得被視為「建築界諾貝爾獎」的普立茲克獎的建築師山本理顯，對近年來東京都進行的開發優先考慮富人的利益而非公共性，直言東京正在逐漸變成「富人的殖民地」。

延續上一則貼文泰國作家威拉蓬的發言，基本精神都是相互呼應的：

I don't think it'll actually make a big difference. But I do think it's incredibly important that the official record shows how many opposed this.

Today I published an update on the #Canonical supported #upki project, which brings browser-grade Public Key Infrastructure to Linux through the efficient #CRLite data format, with the core revocation engine now functional and available to test!

Beyond current progress, this post explores broader integration, performance, and future capabilities like Certificate Transparency enforcement and Merkle Tree.

This is all part of the effort to increase the resilience of #Ubuntu machines by default, but I hope it has a wider benefit on the Linux ecosystem going forward!

Fluxer keeps coming up as a Discord alternative. It looks good, but it has one major problem: It's AGPL and it requires a CLA.

That is an enshittification time bomb. I personally will not contribute to projects using that combination, it's gone wrong way too many times.

That's not to say it's bad to use as a hosted service, it being open source at all is better than Discord.

But from an open source point of view, it's not a good licensing setup. It basically creates a system where the project owners have more rights than other contributors. It's not fair.

Yesterday I submitted the first "public" build of MastoBlaster to Apple, and it is now under review. Once it's approved, I'll share the link with a few people for testing and gradually expand the beta as we go.

The goal is to provide a public beta to the entire Fediverse before the official release, so everyone can try it out. I've already been using it as my primary app for several days and, aside from a few bugs I still need to fix, it’s working well.

My anxiety and depression are getting the best of me, and despite working on this blogpost for most of the weekend, I nearly trashed it. It's talking about specific advancements in neurosymbolic AI.

I'm worried people will think I am hypocritical because I am very outspoken against the AI *industry*, and that remains true. But I am not against AI, I am against the contemporary forms of AI, and its industry. Similarly, I am not against computers or social networks, but I am against the computer and social network industries. I think there are some paths to improving things. The one I have blogged about is one step that starts to address one side of things, but it's not definitive, and it doesn't remove all the other harms that I and others critique the industry of altogether... and it's largely not coming from the industry itself yet (but it could be incorporated by it).

I think I'll take the risk and publish it, since I do think I have things to say, despite all the anxieties

A few weeks ago I mentioned that there were some things I needed to deal with. My presence hasn’t decreased, but it has been different. My mood, without a doubt, very different.

But this morning’s sunrise seemed to foreshadow the good news I’m receiving today and that, as a result, may be paving the way toward a complete resolution of the problems that have been weighing on me lately, problems involving people I care deeply about and that I have, of course, taken on personally.

Fingers crossed, then. But the sun, that sun from this morning, has lit up my day.
