정확히 말하면 미국은 시가지의 밀도가 매우 낮아서 질적 수송시스템에 가까운 철도 이하 대중교통이 채산을 맞추기가 굉장히 어려운 구조고, 여기에 계급이나 인종분리 목적으로 대중교통의 관리수준이나 펀딩이 저열했고 이게 부정적인 피드백이 반복된 결과가 지금의 상태쯤 될겁니다.
그 100키로쯤 뻗으면서 근린상가같은게 허가되지 않는, 인종분리를 배경에 깔고 만들어진 서버번이 그 근본적인 원인이라 할 수 있겠죠.

아이폰 사파리 리액트 웹앱에서 모달창을 띄워 유튜브를 재생하는데 10여분이 지나면 갑자기 닫혀 버립니다.(PC는 정상) 닫히는 순간 사파리 상단에 알림창이 아주 찰나에 떴다 사라집니다. 맥북 개발자 툴에 붙여 확인했는데 별다른 로그도 안남고, 찰나에 사라진 메시지가 뭔지도 알 수가 없네요.
10분동안 재생된 영상 3~4개인데, 캐시가 얼마 되지 않아 메모리 이슈는 아니지 않을까 하는데요. 언젠가 앱개발도 손대야 할지 모르는데, 살짝 겁납니다. 디버깅 방법이 뭐가 좋을까요?

어제 밤에도 취침에 문제가 있어 늦게 잠들었다. 숏츠나 보닥 말이지. 숏츠 보는 거 좀 줄여야 된다고 생각하면서도 자꾸 보게 되는게, 숏츠가 짜투리 시간을 잘 치고 들어온다. 그런 의도로 설계된 콘텐츠니 당연한 거긴 하다.
다만 어쩌다 한번씩 보는 인스타그램의 쇼츠는 AI 가 제작한 영상들이 너무 많은 것 같다. 대부분 우와 하고 놀랄만한 가짜 영상들인데, 자세히 보지 않으면 가짜 여부를 알기가 어렵다. 몇 개를 보다가 AI 가 만든 숏폼 영상을 보면서 중독되어 시간을 보내고 있는 건가 하는 생각이 들어 한심한 마음에 폰을 끄고 취침했다.
유튜브에 널려 있는 사람이 제작한 가짜영상에도 쉽게 현혹되는 사람들, 특히 노인분들이나 어린이들이 적지 않은데, 이제 정말 AI 가 제작한 가짜 영상들이 엄청난게 활개치겠구나 싶다. 노인분들은 어쩔 도리가 없을 것 같고, 아직 교육을 받아야 하는 미성년자들의 경우에는 인증된 채널만 보는 것이 합리적인 콘텐츠 소비 행태가 되지 않을까.

These types of products have come up perennially for, I don't know, at least the last fifteen years. Maybe I should write an article and look for older precedents. I've always been cantankerous about single-board computers and "hacker" devices etc., I think the Raspberry Pi set a really unfortunate precedent by instilling this idea that "enthusiast computing" means a large number of small devices and popularizing a "one physical device for one task" approach to so many home automation or media problems.
But anyway, these commercial "personal cloud" things are so much worse. The vibe is always "we've realized that running services in your house is difficult, so we've done the easy parts for you and for just $500 you can skip directly to the hard parts." On top of that, the average supported lifespan of these types of products might not be much longer than zero. This, of course, is just another way of leaving the hard problems to you.

I was sitting at a birthday dinner with my in-laws yesterday as we talked about recent global, national, & local news, unable to do anything but laugh at the darkness of what we were talking about.
There are the high-level horrors & then there are the local businesses closing up. And they are related. And it's just like, I almost wish the problems here weren't so clear & obvious.
We can sit around a kitchen table & point out the absurdity. We can connect the dots easily enough.
But I try to make a point that middle class white folks may be having those conversations now, but they are echoing experiences & conversations more marginalized folks already have.
It's strange. The world feels so hostile now, but it's a hostility that has been growing & compiling for so long.
Which of course is why white people are not going to find liberation unless we can listen to & learn (with humility!) from marginalized people who have been in this fight.
